ever been to Beaufort. I would like some recommendations on restaurants, sites and activities, and the best nearby beaches to hit. I'm 70 and in excellent shape, she's 40 and in fabulous shape, so we can handle a little walking. We'll be in an AirBnB on the outskirts of town.

Two of my favorites in downtown Beaufort for eating and drinking:

Old Bull Tavern
Hearth Wood Fired Pizza

You can't go wrong with either (I live about 20 mins from Beaufort). Try both, they're worth it. Have fun with your girlfriend, she sounds like a good time šŸ˜‰.

My wife and I enjoyed Old Bull Tavern on one of the side streets downtown. Also, there is a drive in movie theater in Beaufort which is a cool experience since they are so few and far between. Brick on Boundary is also good for bar food/casual. Luther’s has a good bar and food is pretty good also. Saltus(sp) is good as well. A little pricier than the other spots. You can also sit out on the swings near the water downtown.

Visited Beaufort for the first time last winter, right after the coastal snow. We were checking out a wedding venue on St. Helena for my daughter (ended up using it). The second time I visited was for the wedding.

My wife and I loved the area and ate at several good restaurants. Agree with whoever recommended Hearth Wood Fired Pizza. We also had a nice dinner at Saltus. I enjoyed Blackstone’s Cafe for Breakfast and wife liked the Bagel place next door and Low Country Produce. Heard good things about the Fishcamp in Port Royal.

My sister and BIL spent some time at the State Park Beach and said it was really nice.

Any, for what it’s worth. We always spend a week in Seabrook…but may have to get Beaufort in the rotation.

11th st. Fishcamp or Dockside. La Nopelarra for Mexican, Ryan’s or Piaza for pizza. Not a fan of Old Bull Tavern but many like it. Red Rooster for good breakfast or lunch. Bricks has good food also. Waterfront park and the downtown area, Hunting Island, Fort Fremont, and Cypress Wetlands in Port Royal are all great places to visit. Enjoy.

Haven’t been down there in a few years, but went everytime I had the chance. It’s out toward Hunting Island and Fripp.

Best seafood for the price hands down and just a cool place to go.

I live on St. Helena Island. Mostly catch and cook my own seafood, but when I do go out I prefer the Seaside Grill on St. Helena Island and the Foolish Frog in Frogmore (now St. Helena since all the Yankees moved down here). In town I suggest the Fish Camp on 11th street in Port Royal. I would give Johnson Creek Tavern a 4 on a scale of 10 for local seafood. On top of that, the owner is an obnoxious Gamecock. My neighbor's son once was the bartender there. Had a patron ask to put the Clemson Game on one of the bar TVs. The owner came in and made them change the channel and said no one was going to watch that crap in his restaurant. When the chickens beat us 3 times, 4 times and then 5 times in a row, he posted it on the marquee in front of his restaurant each of those years.

Beach to go to is Hunting Island. Also hit waterfront in downtown Beaufort. There are lots of restaurants there, and the marina is there. If you can get on it Fripp Island has a nice beach and pool lay out. I think it is gated though, but there is a big resort community there and lots of people hae houses there. We went to beach on Fripp or Hunting Island.

Go to Scratch for great Italian food, in Breakwater is another option for a fine

Blackstone's for breakfast. Get there early enough for the 8 AM pledge of allegiance. Or eat breakfast a couple blocks away at Lowcountry Produce. Tour the Old Point to see antebellum homes and hear about the history there. National Park service was offering walking tours, but you'll have to check. Beaches, you have a couple of choices. Hunting Island State Park has a 3 mile stretch of undeveloped beach. Harbor Island, Fripp Island have beaches but are gated communities so access is limited. If you have a boat, there are plenty of options to find a quiet beach or sandbar.
Rookery in Port Royal is a fun boardwalk for bird and alligator watchers. Smell is awful though. Don't know when you're arriving but Street Music on Paris Avenue is this Saturday at 6 PM. Free show, bring your own chairs and coolers. Last time was a good group, Piper and the Hard Times. Haven't looked to see who's coming this Saturday. Usually Blues singer or group.
Have fun!
