Yep people overreact big time and don't know the facts. The ACC was the best conference in college football in 2016 and Clemson ended the season having played the 4th toughest schedule that year, but we only win bc of our crappy conference according to some. Clemson also played a tough schedule in 2014, 2015, and 2017. 2018-2021 have been much worse although this year was a moderately tough schedule.

You're right - I forgot about that little factoid.
It's like people have a issue giving credit when it is due. Instead they rely on the ESPN and CBS sports(Gary Danielson) narrative that football is only played in the SEC. Herbstreit says it's only played in the SEC and Big 10. He and others still love their traditional Big 10. But, besides Ohio State who else has seriously challenged for a championship since 2000? NOBODY else! Since 2000 current ACC teams: VT(00), Miami(01, 02) FSU(13), Clemson(15, 16, 18, 19).
Facts! Yet, nobody destroys the Big 10 for being bad top to bottom! 4 teams that had a shot vs. 1 team that had a shot says it all in terms of parody.
ACC teams are sucking wind right now! No denying that - but don't get out of control with it as that's not what historical data suggest is always going to happen.

I had to put this in there - let's not act like 16 and 18 were that long ago! People have short memories but come on "blow up the ACC people"!
With Cristobal in perhaps the most fertile recruiting ground in America - Miami will get back to some relevance. FSU still gets really good players and just need some stability, good OL coach and a QB and they are right back. Excited to see what Virginia Tech looks like under their new coach. I think Collins at GT is just getting the last of the flex-bone players out of there and they will be better. If you keep up with recruiting; they have gotten some players they never would have gotten under Paul. BC has a HC who will keep them competitive. I look for them to be persistent thorns in people's side.
Nancy State - ugh! U of Non-Compliance has out recruited Clemson in this cycle! They get good players; but can they put it together? When they do - it won't be like they won't have the players at least. Wake - great story of how developmental programs work! The extra Covid year helped them for certain! We'll see. I hope they stay good. Louisville - Satterfield is a good coach and they have good talent there. Something is missing there; but they are close. What will Coach Elliott bring to UVA? Be interesting to see how they are shaped and molded. Pitt - has a really good QB coming in. They still have a defense that's always in the top 3 for sacks and TFL's. They aren't going anywhere.
Clemson is still Clemson and from what I see on the roster the "panic button pushers" need to pipe down. We are good to go and will get some kids in who want to work and be here. Heavy is the head that wears the crown! No trophy from the ACC - but we are still the load bearers.
I think it's going to get better sooner rather than later for Clemson and the rest of the league.

The ACC would have had at least a .500

record and probably slightly above this year without the Pickett opt out and cancellations. Instead, they will finish 2-4.

Agreed! There were favorable matchups that went bye-bye!
Still can't get anyone to explain to me how the Big 10 and Pac 12 and really the Big 12 as well gets a pass on losing games they shouldn't? Or losing O.O.C games! The ACC gets completely "railed" for losing out of the conference! It's crazy!
And as I stated above - going back 20 years current ACC teams have done more in terms of being in the hunt for a National Title with "different teams"! Only the SEC has more parody in terms of multiple teams having played for it or winning it. Yet, no slack eh?
