I will admit to being torn about admitting Stanford. From a football program perspective, it would make absolutely no sense to add them. But otherwise, they are the best run athletic program in the country and have won over 130 National Championships and they win that Cup that recognizes the average best in all sports practically every year.
The biggest thing Stanford and Cal bring to the table are academic benefits. As two of the premier research institutions in the country, they garner a lot of grants. If ACC schools collaborated with them in research, I could see a lot of dollars coming into the conference over time for other academic pursuits.
Like I said, I'm not excited about it from a football perspective but I kind of see the point from an academic perspective.
