Yea with all this portaling and tampering I’m thinking it will hurt the blue bloods some. Top tier talent do not want to be 2nd and 3rds when it is so easy to get paid to go somewhere else and start.
In reality some guys need to portal if they ever plan to see the field. I for one thought our group were good candidates. I hated to lose Pace as he was a good one but was 3rd on the depth chart.
Do not see any one challenging you guys in the East anytime soon. That side just cannot get it together. Just need to keep beating the West and you will definitely keep getting in the top 4. Bama won’t be down long with what they have coming in. As long as they pan out.

I don't think there is much to be done about NIL. The NCCA could, I think, do something about the free-for-all associated with the portal. Something like a one-time transfer w/o having to sit out. I don't think they will because I think anything like that would be framed as acting against the interests of the players. No one wants to be branded with that. So, we'll all sit back and watch the craziness unfold and watch players throw away scholarships.
As for the Dawgs, I don't think anyone in the East is close. As for the West, we agree that Saban isn't going anywhere.

I think the guy at Tenn has them trending in the right direction and recruited well this year but you never know. They still have struggled to get past firing Fulmer.
As for the portal that one QB I’m thinking was last at WV is heading to school number 4. Unbelievable really.

You're referring to JT Daniels. Southern Cal to UGA to W. Virginia to who knows. Guy can't keep a starting job anywhere. For all the crap Kirby has taken about his handling of QBs, he seemed to know what he was doing when UGA fans, myself included, was screaming he should be playing Daniels over Bennett.

Didn’t Kirby actually approach Bennett and tell him if he wanted to play college football then he should think about transferring from UGA? I am pretty sure this happened but could be wrong.

UGA winning with an elf at QB says so much more about where the competition is than what Kirby has done. UGA has lucked into a time where Bama is down, LSU is down, OSU is down, AND Clemson is down.
We are one bad coaching decision from being in the playoffs with an invigorated offense, where things could be drastically different.

DJ was nothing but a superstar before the game with UGA. You recall the hype. His zillion yards against ND the year before. The big comeback against BC. He was gonna light up that UGA secondary. He was the next superstar Clemson QB.

He ended up about as good against every team he played minus a couple. Only reason we survived last year was our run game. DJ was beating no one with his accuracy issues.
The guy actually attended a Spurrier QB camp and he was raving about what a great QB Clemson was getting because of his strong arm. He forgot to mention he had a strong arm BUT could not hit his target.

At times he was a hard guy to figure out. He'd hit a great pass then miss the next three wide open receivers. I think everyone, Clemson fans and everyone else, are still scratching their head as to why Dabo didn't make a move earlier. It seemed so obvious to everyone Clemson wasn't beating anyone good with DJ at QB. CK plays against SC and you guys are in the playoffs.

Yeah ..... kind of like playing "what's his name" over Fields when everyone except Kirby knew Fields was better. He only played Bennett when it was apparent that no one else could complete a forward pass.

it seems to effect the SEC more. Because when an SEC team loses a bowl game, its because no one cares and didn't want to be there. But if the SEC team wins its because they are refined week in week out by a tough schedule such as Vanderbilt, Missouri, Texas A and M, Florida (I kid I kid).
But you're not wrong. SEC players are a bunch of pansies and will sit out bowl games, go pro and then in the pro bowl those few that make it will play two hand touch. Maybe we should do that in bowl games.

Bowl games most certainly matter to fans, players and especially coaches. The best thing about Bowl games are the extra 2 weeks of practice that gives youngsters a chance to show coaches they can make a difference.

How could a player who plays for the honor of the conference and the cheers of "SEC! SEC! SEC!" go into an out of conference game and not be fired up to prove his conference is superior to all the others?
I understand all those other conferences who concentrate on golf or lacrosse or soccer would think of a bowl game as nothing more than a way to get money to spend on the important sports.
But, not the SEC. It just means more!

Because players don't chant SEC! SEC! SEC!. Fans do. Funny, when SEC teams win, conferences don't matter. When they lose to another conference, suddenly conference is all that matters. If the SEC ends up with the best bowl record among conferences, all the conference talk here will again go quiet.

Bowl games only mean a thing to people who love football. Who love to see two teams take the field and battle it out. Seems a lot of folks have their eyes on titles and lost their love for the trenches. Football is about the struggles to get, or stop, that first and ten; getting that completion; getting that touchdown. It’s beast against beast. It’s about perseverance. Titles are meaningless robbers of the thrill of the battle. Refocus!!! It’s the David that faces Goliath that puts thrill in the heart of the football lover. Phewy on the Goliaths. So what if they beat South Florida. That’s what is meaningless.

I suspect in no small way, the IRRELEVANCE (financially most importantly) of the non-CFP bowls (they had to ROTATE the CFP bowls to make the bowls, somewhat happy) is the ROOT of and drove the expansion to 12 teams.
What else could it be?

12 teams was pushed by the SEC to get more of their teams in to guarantee a bigger share of the money. Opposed by everybody but the B12 because of some back room agreement. Then B10 broke the pact, poached USC/UCLA, and changed their position on expansion for the same reason.
