What would you guys consider success

Against uga in week 1 what would yall consider success. In my opinion it being like 24-17 where we are competive and not scoring 2 tds in garbage a success. The defense plays outstanding for the first 3 and a half quarters until they get tired. Cade goes for like 300-350 and 2 tds and mafah around 100 with our wrs looking good and explosive. Obviously that's probably a stretch but a man can hope

I always want the Tigers to play with effort and minimize mistakes. That's usually good enough to get a victory, but not always.

With those numbers from Cade and Mafah you threw out there, I'd expect nothing less than a win.

You're right I should've been more specific as in like that's the best case scenario type thing I could see being successful

Thats why this entire offense needs to leave the Charmin and marshmallows at home.

This is an absolute steak... potatoes..and beer game.

Success is a win definitely....but if nobody is left standing on both sides and we lose by 1 or 3.... then we are just on the right track.

No one threw for 300 against Georgia last year (let alone 350), and only a handful threw for more than 200. And only one player ran for over 100. So those numbers would be successful indeed.

I've never been big on moral victories.

Don't' get me wrong. I don't consider every loss a failure. But, I don't recall the last time I considered a loss a success.

Re: A win.

Aug 3, 2024, 11:08 PM

I’d take a 3-0 win with Cade throwing 3 picks if we win. I’d love a 31-13 win with Cade throwing for 300 and 2 scores with no picks and Mafah having 100 and 2 scores. Either way it would be a success. No moral victories in losing.

Oh yeah I completely agree but if we actually truly compete wit Georgia I wouldn't be mad at a loss unless we completely outplay them and still find a way to lose

Only a win is success, but a loss doesn’t end the season. I think we will know by the look and feel of the game if this team is different than the last 3 or more of the same.

What we all really want is a return to pre 2021 in terms of production, quality, and toughness. We could absolutely lose by 2 points and still establish that.

There are times when any loss leaves a bad taste in your mouth..losing to Jawja by one point when they win a natty and we hold them withoutan offensive touchdown would be OK like having a date with Taylor Swift in a body cast!

This isnt 1990s Clemson, there are no moral victories here

Aug 5, 2024, 7:55 AM

Despite a few sup-par seasons, Clemson is an elite national program. Dont let the media tell you otherwise. You think OSU, Bama, Uga, etc claim any sort of loss as a success? Like others said, thats coot level nonsense.

If Cade goes for 350 and Mafah 100

Aug 5, 2024, 8:18 AM

We should expect to win the game. That's probably 500 yards of offense once you add in some more rushing yards from Cade or other backs. We should really be scoring more than 17 pts with 500 yards. That would likely indicate a major issue finishing drives - something that's already been a problem with this offense.

That said, i just don't have any faith in this offense putting up 500 yards against a team like Georgia until I see them do it. If I had to bet on this game I'd day something like 27-13 UGA with 350ish yards of offense. Defense keeps us in the game until late. I'd love to be wrong, but this offense needs to show me something.

Have we slipped so far that we are considering evaluating the success of our program by how close our losses are? This is Coot talk.
