Visiting Fan Coming for BC-Clemson - Looking to Tailgate
Sep 24, 2019, 3:45 PM
|
|
Visiting fan (group of about 10 of us) are coming in for the BC-Clemson game. Not expecting much in terms of a win on our side, but hoping for a great time (and maybe a close game for a half....)
We have flight, accommodations, etc. all set up, but are currently planning how to tailgate. Any recommendations on what a group of visiting fans should do? Good group of guys, young 30s looking to enjoy a real football atmosphere
Also any Friday night dinner / going out recs would be awesome!

Hahaha. Yes, we have some
2,250 a graduating class, too many pro sports in Boston...we struggle with any outside fandom.

One piece of advice: Bring towels that you can discard after the game.

It will be a great trip for you

Try to find a parking spot quickly. If you plan to tailgate that will be important. You will be cordially invited to join in tailgates if you are willing. I assume you will be flying into Greenville. Plenty to do there. Great restaurants and bars. Clemson is a small village that swells to a 100,000 on game day so be prepared for that. No “green line” to ride to our campus. I genuinely love Boston and you will love your trip to Tigertown .. I promise.

Thanks so much! Really looking forward to it.
I love when you all come into town (and fill our duckboats with orange!). Great fans and make for a great time on campus. I tailgate on the brighton campus about a 10 min walk from Alumni and always love having new fans. If you're in town shoot me a T-mail and I'm happy to host!

Wow, two years ago I ran across a group of BC undergrads

who had rented an RV and were tailgating HARD! They were a lot of fun, but that RV was totally trashed.
I assume you will have a rental car. Just buy a parking pass on here or StubHub, then troll the lot. If you act like a halfway civilized human being, people will be very welcoming and you will get well taken care of.
Friday night, go to Sardi's, then hit downtown Clemson.
Safe travels, and I hope we play 112!

look for a parking pass to purchase for the game. Walk around the tailgate lots and you will have a great time with Clemson fans as you will be welcomed at tailgates with food and beverages. As for Friday, are you staying in Clemson or somewhere else like Greenville? Are you looking to eat somewhere a little more upscale or more like southern BBQ type of a place?

staying in salem. Will be up early Friday hoping to golf somewhere between Atl and Clem and then have all day. BBQ joint or something simple is easy, then probably just cruise around downtown!

Sounds like ya'll are flying into ATL and driving up from there. If you want to get in a round on the way, you might try Arrowhead Pointe at Lake Russell. It's a Georgia State Parks course and it's magnificent, especially during the Fall. Best of all it's very reasonable. You'll be playing a $175 course for about forty bucks.
BTW, I've got a whole slew of nieces and nephews who graduated from BC so a big "Hey!" to ya'll.

I'll sell you one for $60 in Lot C-1 and I'll include 45 minute walking route from spot to stadium so you can enjoy the beauty of Clemson's campus.

We have more than one garage but yes I agree ours sucks. Exactly why were coming.
Sounds like groups are all good about welcoming folks, was more worried about a huge group getting any flack. Thanks!

Hit Calhoun Corners OR Pixy&Bill's for fine dinner on Clemson By-pass near end of College Ave
Sep 24, 2019, 4:30 PM
|
|
For touring visit (just above the Stadium) on campus the beautiful Fort Hill home of John C Calhoun (VP of US twice, Sec of State, Treasurer & Father-in-law of Clemson). Some of his personal visitors were Daniel Webster & Henry Clay, who like Calhoun were all about 6'6" tall. The furnishings & art are highly interesting with a buffet Cabinet made of lumber from The Ironsides Frigate.
The Clemson Band takes off in front this plantation home one hour b/4 game time playing Tiger Rag down that outer hill towards Death Valley Stadium & then turning right (or otherwise they would go into THE HiLL area where Howards Rock is located within the endzone gates).
Saying, tour the lovely Fort Hill Plantation (free) that's on National Historic List 1 1/2 hours b/4 game time..come out of the home 30 minutes later & BAM, be right by Tiger Band about to crank off playing festive Tiger Rag 1 hour b/4 game.
Then, as Band passes..file in behind them & crowd and get your ##### into stadium (metal detectors) & to your seats so to see Brent Musberger's "most exciting 25 seconds in college football" entry.
And, Welcome to Death Valley #1!

Hmm looks like my wife finally started reading Tigernet as she just text me asking for permission to do a girls-only weekend to attend the Clemson/BC game. But a "hall pass"....what does she mean by having a "hall pass"???
