A Lazy Week

Jul 10, 2021, 7:59 PM

Three weeks ago I spent a week with my family at Lake Norman, NC. "Family" included ten adults plus five great grandchildren. The great grands ranged in age from 16 months to 14 years. I had resolved to do nothing for an entire week. Two days before leaving for the lake, I fell and sustained some minor injuries plus aches and pains associated with a fall. The house we rented was just right for me. The main entry was on the second floor where I had a private room. The living room, cooking and dining rooms were on this floor. I was told the upper room contained several bedrooms and a game room with several more bed rooms on the lower level, I had to take their word for it because I never got off the second floor to check it out in person. The mattress on my bed was so high I had difficulty getting in and out of bed and this added to the aches and pains during my stay.

My SIL took his boat but I never got down to the boat house. It was so steep going down on the grass I had a fear for falling and where there were steps there was no hand rail. My two grandsons and the husband of my granddaughter are excellent cooks. They are into gourmet dishes and I'm still living in the "meat and three" age. My SIL is a retired MD and when he was practicing their evening meal was not on a regular schedule. We have a saying, "we know we're going to eat and we will be eating well". "The only problem is, we don't know when it's going to happen".

Some of you may be aware That Lake Norman was named for Norman A. Cocke, a former President of Duke Power Company from 1953 to 1959. Norman and I share the same surname but I could not find anything that would lead me to believe we were sharing in the same bank account.

As for the personal service,. I gave every member of the family an A+.

Thanks for sharing Joe, and glad your injuries were not serious. Hope you're ache and pain-free soon.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

Sounds like you are blessed with a great family, and they are blessed with you as well!
