A different take on Arch Manning...

Jul 13, 2022, 9:13 PM

From what I've seen, I agree. I'm not saying anything bad about him but I do think he's a little overhyped. His HS film is not nearly as impressive as Trevor, Justin Fields, Quinn Ewers, and a few more. He has all day to find his recievers and rarely has to throw a dime. I question why he didn't attend the Elite 11. Did he not want to get showed up by a really strong class? The 2023 class may be the strongest at the top that we've seen in a while.

I have zero ill will toward he kid. I think he has a really bright future and would love to see him mature into a 2.O version of one of my favorite QB's of all time Peyton Manning. I was also happy he didn't go to UGA.

I've read much the same about him. And he's listed as a "perfect" recruit (where Trevor had .9999 or whatever). He plays for a tiny private school against other tiny private schools. He has a last name, and other than that is completely unproven. Trevor was wrecking the AAAA division in Georgia; granted this isn't 7a, but is much more impressive than Arch. The more I read, the more I'm extremely happy we didn't win his "lottery" and we got Vizzina instead.

I agree 100% with most of the information posted in this thread. Arch seems like a great guy and all indications are that he will be a good quarterback. But there are no indications that he will be a great quarterback. Certainly overrated.

Disclaimer. I like him. I do not dislike Arch Manning. I hope he does really really well. I hope the Texas program gets back to being competitive, because they are not competitive at the top level right now.

Of course he's overhyped because of his name, but...

he will do very well in college because he's accurate and is clearly next-level between the ears.

You can tell he's very smart and has been taught well. He's far ahead of the curve in that regard. He has more than enough physical talent to excel in college. However, I don't see a Heisman contender or anything like that. He's probably not much of an NFL prospect.

I love the Manning family. Peyton is one of my favorite players of all time (for a lot of reasons). Eli is in my personal Hall of Fame for beating the Pats twice in the Super Bowl.

That said, I strongly dislike UT. If it was possible for Arch to do well there and for the program to fall on its face at the same time, that is what I would choose.

I’m glad the “experts” are finally catching up with us.
