I saw my first Clemson game in 1958.
In all the years that followed, I’ve never NOT seen Clemson fans come on to the field after a home game. Not once!
So I can attest that it’s a tradition of extremely long standing.
Can any of you Tiger folks of longer standing than me testify from experience that they have seen the tradition in action prior to my earliest memory?

I am off the older crowd also. I remember going on the field and getting Jimmy Addison’s ( The Needle) chinstrap.

Family moved to Clemson in 1966 and as a second-grader, we would hop over the chain link fence in the West end zone and run out to ask players for chin straps or sweatbands. If my memory serves, the biggest get for me was a sweatband from Jimmy Addison. No. 44, Buddy Gore, was a big name at the time.
We did run out there, so I guess it counted as "storming" or "rushing" the field. It has been a few decades since I stormed the field.
No paw at the time. That came later. Biggest contribution of the Hootie Ingram years.
First game in 1966 was a comeback victory over Virginia. Supposedly the first game with the rock, but I was a clueless second grader and have no recollection of rocks or if they ran down the hill.

That game was on "High School Seniors Day." Virginia led almost the entire game, until Jimmy "Needle" Addison hit Jackie Jackson for a 75 yard td to win the game 40-35. I was sitting in the West Endzone along with some high school classmates, and we did indeed "storm the field." Remember, back then, there was no "paw" to gather at. Eleven months later, I matriculated at Clemson as a freshman.

I am in my 70's also and kids always went on the field after games. The difference after the State game was the number of people and the speed they did it. It was clearly storming the field when there were thousands of people and nobody could even move. Since the ACC has no rule against that storming, I fail to see what the issue is. We win, we celebrate.

Yes, “storming” does happen after big wins. Seems worse

after big wins late at night.
I grew up with 1pm kick-offs and 4-5pm final whistles. When folks came out on the field it was still day light and most were hero worshiping youngsters and the even older “kids” were mostly sober.

I attended my first Clemson game in 1954. I was too young to go on the field that year. The first year I was allowed on the field was at the Clemson-Duke game in 1959 when Clemson beat Duke 6-0. Ed Bost caught a TD pass and was knocked unconscious on the play (in the endzone at the Hill end of the field). He refused to release the ball when the official tried to take it out of his hands. In the post game interview, he said he thought a Duke player was trying to "steal" the ball, and he kept thinking "Coach Howard will kill me if I let it go!" I got his autograph on my game program.
So, I can personally attest to fans going on the field for the past 63 years.

I returned home from the Army in Oct.1965 and a friend came by and
wanted us to go to a Clemson game. We had no tickets and we didn't
get there until half time. We were walking around the stadium and
a man gave us two tickets on the 50 yard line. I think that we were
playing Wake. Those were the good old days and I will never forget
them.

I always made my dad take me down to the field so I could try to meet some players and throw the football after every game. This was during the 80's. I feel like it used to be primarily kids and now it is way more students and young adults "storming" the field. I do not remember near the kind of immediate congestion you see now after games. Do you guys remember it that way in regards to it mainly being younger kids?
I hope the tradition stands mainly for kids who want to meet their favorite player. Now it seems like a rush to get to Dabo and get on TV.

friends and family of players and coaches.
The first and only time I recall a crowd rowdy enough to be dangerous was 1998 game we won vs Scar in Tommy West’s last appearance.
They tore the goal posts down. That had never, ever happened before!

I’m only 54 , which is nice to be able to say. I remember going on the field to get William Perry’s signature. I saw him many years later laying blocks. But I’ve met Perry tutle many times . He’s one of the nicest guys on the planet. He always remembers you. It’s insane. But I just wanted to post.

Early on in C.T.B. career when we were ranked 5 or six and got beat by tech; might have been few on field but not many.

My first game was 1959 and fans did not run onto the field but walked onto the field after the game. The scoreboard was where the west stands are now. It looked like an old time small high school score board. I bought a student ticket for .50 cent for general admission and sat on the 40 yard line in the north stands. I believe Harvey White was the QB Doug Mathis the RB and Gary Barnes a receiver. I caught the bug and have been a tiger fan since.
