lose in their championship games and we beat Miami. The top four teams will be unclear. The pressure will start to build as the teams left out cry foul!

If they win they are in. If they lose they are out. They had their shot. I’m not in charge but personally no chaos for me. I love my Tigers but if they lost after being undefeated to that point then they’ve put their destiny in others hands and it’s ok if they were left out. It’s as if the conference championships are the first round of the playoffs.

Chaos is an undefeated Wisconsin or a one loss Georgia winning the conference and being left out. I don't see either happening any more.

After watching this play out for 3 years, I'm not sure I want 8 teams either. I think 4 teams is the right balance and it makes the regular season and conference championships all meaningful.

There is absolutely no reason why FBS football is so unique that it requires a 4 team playoff, no more no less. Literally every other level of football has a bigger playoff, from youth leagues to the NFL.
The bowl system needs to be eliminated or reformed to make it happen though. The problem is there are too many bowl games nobody cares about, but yet those same games are held up as examples of the “great traditions” of College football.
I’m sorry but I don’t see “San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl” as a valid reason to not have an 8 team playoff.
