Dec 26, 2015, 9:57 PM

I just don't understand how you would compute this number

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's based on ESPN's FPI...

Dec 26, 2015, 10:03 PM

Which probably still has Arkansas as a top-20 team.

The FPI is the biggest pile of crap imaginable. Means nothing and has no significance.

Ole miss is ahead of us... We are number 6. Say no more

And Mich. St. is ranked

Dec 26, 2015, 10:42 PM

14th in ESPN FPI. Wow. I'd love to see the "analytics" behind this.

Good news. Stats don't win games. Dabo does!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

FPI has 9 SEC teams in the top 25. It's ESPN's wish list.

Dec 26, 2015, 10:54 PM

Not based on reality.

It isn't based on football reality, but rather business reality. ESPN is a money machine plain and simple. If they came out and said Clemson is a shoe-in for the national title how many average college football fans across the country would then tune in to the playoff games? Remember this is a new system they are heavily invested in and you have Danny Kannell saying every other day "let's have 8, no 16, no 32 teams". They have to hype OU and Abalama to get viewers so they can continue to make billions. Why doesn't that work for us? Because the average college football viewer in Armpit Idaho has barely heard of us. But they have all heard of Abalama and Oklahoma and they have for decades. As such we will have to be at the top for decades to receive the same fawning. We are not a Notre Dame, southern cal, Ohio state, Michigan, etc. etc. and personally I would rather receive thoughtful analysis than mindless praise with the purpose of fattening the praiser's wallet.

I like our chances!***

This is the same index that has ole miss as the 4th best team in college football. ESPN fpi serves only one purpose, to advance the agenda of ESPN.

It also has UCLA as a 67% chance to win out.

When are yall going to quit worrying about what ESPN says?
All year people griping about "We may be undefeated and be left out of the playoff."
People griping about "Espn pumping the SEC is going to put 2 Sec teams in."
We won our games. We are in the playoff despite ESPN. Who really cares about what ESPN says?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ESPN said the ACC would be left out of the CFP!!!
