That used to be the minimum before firing a coach. They were given a grace period to get their players in, coaches hired, and schemes implemented. That was when you started hearing rumbling of hot seats if teams weren’t improving.

Until some limits are put in place with the portal I don’t think most coaches will get that leeway. I wonder what kind of contracts will be negotiated during this round of coaching hires? Will these massive buyouts continue to be a thing if schools are so quick to pull the trigger now?

Should be an interesting offseason. 💸
