Do you all think the ACC is going to take this stuff laying

down? I don't. There are a large number of powerful people that have strong feelings about this conf. Is it possible that this is merely a posturing play to leverage the 3rd Tier rights along with pressure for ND to finally join a conference? If things go down as has been reported, ND will be F%&@'d. I don't see that happening. Say ND and UConn join now that Rutgers is probably out of the running due to their legal woes; does that become a big enough "Game-changer" that all is right in the world for the time being? What does the Big VII have that we don't have/ Honest question. They were all but thru last year and now they are dictating the direction of college football with the SEC? Outside of Texas, OU, and OSU (who sucked up until a few years ago) whats so special about them? They have ISU, KSU, KU, Baylor, and a bunch of other hacks that really arent any better than our bottom half. Please enlighten me.

It's been clear for years where conferences are heading. The ACC has lost the arms race.

They have people in power that are smart. They have blocked out most of schools from the party.
This will do one of two things. It will cause college football to die or cause fans to move to those schools.
It is like the people that pull for Wofford and Clemson/USC. They say they really aren't playing in the same league.
Well that is going to be true for the Power48(up to 64) vs everyone else. If you can't make a case with $$$ to get in, then you are going to be in the lower tier.

They have a championship game deal with the SEC
May 19, 2012, 11:53 AM

they'll have a TV contract far larger than the ACC's when all is said and done. Notre Dame could save the ACC, but why would they look here instead of one of the "now" big 4 conferences? ND is really the only at-large football school left. Who else could the ACC add that would mean anything?

However, I do think now they are more likely to join a conference. Not the ACC now.

Yes, the Big 12 I fear. That way they can keep the money from the new Notre Dame Network. We may be out in the cold.

Their football sanctions almost (may yet) affected their favored BB team. They do not want the ACC to be a football-centric league. I say get out while we can!

It's already too late for the ACC to be one of the 4 major Conferences.

and thats the key. the sec has decided to back the big 12 as a big 4 conference. why? geography. these conferences are going to divide the nation and the acc has the misfortune of sharing too much land with the sec.

I could see the powers that be in the SEC trying to marginalize the ACC and hasten a dissolution that affords them a chance to be seen as a lifeline to the right schools.
They are good at what they do, and we can still hope the SEC powers find value in making room for Clemson.

Let alone a college team. WV is still going to be a middle of the pack at best Big 12 team.

They have laid down up to this point, why get up now. Swofford has screwed this conference with one bad decision after another. T.V markets and football is driving expansion and this ####### invite 2 basketball schools in the conference. All this talk about academics is a bunch of bull. Look at the landscape you don't have a choice right now. We are fighting for survival of the ACC. Offer Notre Dame, Louisville / UConn/ or Cincinnati. Any combination of the 2 and be done with it already. You tell the conference what they are going to do not them tell you what to do John.

In what possibly conceivable way is UCONN a game changer?
May 19, 2012, 6:22 PM

Rutgers, UCONN only make the ACC look even more pathetic. ND hasnt been good in 20 years, really dont get how that saves the conference either.
