The Bigger Issue Than Our Basketball Woes

For two years in a row, our alliance with the ACC has hurt us in basketball with strength of schedule. Olympus has fallen…When you couple in the amount of television and partnership contract money that’s been left on the table compared to the BIG and SEC it’s mind-blowing. The time to part ways with the ACC is now, not next year or the following year. It’s time for Clemson to once again lead the pack, make bold moves and move to the BIG. In this ever growing free market with unlimited salary cap of college athletics, the time for us to yolk up with a major player is now!

I'd rather end up in the SUC as well, but it's more likely we'll end up in the BIG whatever. We would give the BIG 10 a TV market in the southeast.

It could be wrong, but I read somewhere that the "new tv market" thing isn't such a big deal now that the streaming boom has hit.
Now it's all about total viewers and it doesn't matter where they are located.
That would make sense as to why the BIG would take USC and UCLA together instead of pushing for USC and one of the other big markets in the PAC region.

Am sure Neff is still on getting us out of the ACC. He’s had bigger fish to let off the hook over the past day or so. We’re good. Hurry football !!!

I said BIG because the SECs current contract goes through 2025 and they would be up for more expansion. I’m just not sure SC as a market could support two SEC programs. Anyhow, I’m off of my soap box for now

It's the ugly Ls keeping us out of the tournament after we were #1 in the ACC for the first half of conference schedule and finishing 3rd with a record number of ACC wins. That's what equals woes. Win 2 of those games and we aren't having this conversation

You need to go back and read lowcountry tigers post that puts those 23 wins into perspective. Focus on the fact that our OOC schedule was 334+ and the ACC has four teams in the dance with a fifth being a play in game. The point is that the ACC bball dynasty is coming to an end if it hasn’t already. Baseball prowess and power has passed and Clemson/ND is the only thing keeping them relevant in football. We will not compete going forward with a free market transfer portal and pay to play. You’re already seeing the effects in the recruiting classes and if you can’t see it then keep cheering on the orchestra while the Titanic sinks.
