2023 Prediction

6

Jun 28, 2023, 1:39 AM

I’ve already predicted the playoff long ago:

1) Georgia (13-0)
2) Clemson (13-0)
3) Michigan (13-0)
4) USC(12-1)

This upcoming season seems like the 2015 season when we made our first National Championship appearance against Alabama and lost. Coming off an okay year in 2014, just didn’t win bowl game in 2023.

Cade is a sophomore. And will work great with Riley’s Texas style of offense where he thrived in HS. We will immediately be able to see if things will click. Yes it takes a while, but with a whole offseason, it’s enough time to get basics down. If they are not, we’ve got concerns.

The closest game of the year will be North Carolina. North Carolina will be a very good team, not really talked about right now.

Clemson will sort of breeze by FSU and ND, and the other teams. FSU is overhyped and still not on that level. Travis will perform good though, they just won’t control the game in Death Valley.

Clemson will either play FSU or UNC in the ACC Championship. But I think it’s a rematch against UNC. And it won’t be close again like last year. But Cade will be better by this time.

Cade will be a Heisman candidate, but will not win (once again at QB). Caleb Williams.

Clemson vs Michigan will be a very close game. Similar to 2019 Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. But Clemson wins that with their defense. Peter Woods will be the most impactful D-Lineman in the country after this year.

Georgia will beat USC. Caleb Williams will cause the same issues as Stroud, but it’ll fall Georgia’s way.

As much as I hate to predict a Georgia 3-peat, Clemson will come just short. Will be a very close game. But Georgia will have more guys that have experience in national championships. We really don’t have anyone with that level of experience anymore.

2024 is our next national championship.

”Georgia will have more guys that have experience in national championships.”

But will they all be able to stay out of prison?

That’s the question to be asked.

Can they stay away from all the nonsense? So far, it hasn’t affected their national title run. So, I don’t think that matters honestly as far as performance goes.

Agreed we will have a great season. Disagree we will breeze by FSU. They have recruited well, have used the transfer portal to answer it's needs and Norvell is a very good coach. We will win and we might win by 14 but it will be a tough fought 14.
Question I have is can our offensive line take the next step forward? Can they improve on last year? Our success will hinge on those big uglies pushing opposing defenses out of the way and protecting our young QB

100% correct! The OL will be one of the biggest factors, if not the biggest factor in our success. Get that right, and we will see success like we haven't seen in a long time. I dare say that our OL wasn't "All-World" the years we won the NC, but it was good. What a wonderful surprise li'l ol' Clemson would pull of if we are back on top. I think we have a great opportunity to really show out for the next few years.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 11:22 AM [ in reply to Re: 2023 Prediction ]

I don’t give a da** about what they’ve done in the off-season. They haven’t proven anything yet. Like I’ve said a million times. They’ve got to show something. If they come out and again beat LSU, maybe handedly, then yeah I will start to think again. But that game in Death Valley will be near impossible for them to gain any control.

It’s a double-edged sword, because Clemson also needs to prove their offense can work, but it’s more of a certainty that our offense will work under Riley than it is for FSU to make the playoff.

We will run away in the 2nd half after a first half of probably a 17-7 Clemson lead.

Can't disagree with your final four. Michigan will be ranked above Clemson at the onset of the season. If the Wolverines go undefeated, it's unlikely Clemson jumps them in the polls. Given your final four, I think a match up of #1 Georgia and #3 Clemson is more likely.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 10:28 AM

Please take a second to go look at Michigan’s schedule.

Not this is very weird/interesting. I distinctly remember Michigan being discriminated against because of their non conference matchups against Hawaii and UCONN after cancelling UCLA home and home series.

And now looking at 23’ schedule, it definitely doesn’t look as tough as Clemson’s.

I will just put it here because I need people to see how easy it is. And I will say this. Ohio State’s going to have a down year. The BIG10 will have a “down” year. Like the ACC in 2018 and 2019. Michigan will breeze through everyone but Penn State. But they will win.

vs ECU
vs UNLV
vs Bowling Green
vs Rutgers

Yeah, they get these 4 home games to start. This would make me sick if I was a Michigan fan.

@Nebraska
@Minnesota (A tough game actually)
vs Indiana
@Michigan State
vs Purdue
@ Penn State
@ Maryland
vs Ohio State

I understand it’s hard to predict things nowadays in college football, but if you’re truly looking at those opponents, you can’t sit there and think Michigan’s path is harder than Clemson.

Michigan’s got Penn State and Ohio State, but like I said, Buckeyes won’t be on same level. And Penn State is NOT elite. They are good.

Clemson’s path is just harder. We have to play at least 3 Heisman caliber QBs. Travis, Hartman, and Maye. And then will rematch against Travis or Maye in the ACC Championship. PLUS, everyone is just disregarding Doreon and the pack, don’t do that. I understand their roster and QB situation, but it’s still Raleigh. And then in my opinion, a game in Willy B maybe at night for high stakes, where Clemson will be 11-0, is a pressure packed game. Not to mention the pressure on Clemson to beat SCAR next year.

All that said, Clemson actually has a tougher schedule and will be ranked higher than Michigan who will once again play Purdue or Minnesota or whoever in the BIG10 Champ.

Don't forget we are also facing Hartman with ND. And like him or not the coot QB is pretty good too. So we will face 5 NFL caliber QBs

Re: 2023 Prediction

I mentioned Hartman.

Okay then so Hartman, Rattler, Travis, and Maye. Who’s the 5th you mentioned?

Also, Rattler is not NFL caliber. Watch his performance before Tennessee last year, it’s disgusting.

It would be easy at this point to put OHS or Alabama in, maybe Texas as Evers is good.

UNCheat will be good due to Drake. The QB is still the main player on a team, and he is a star. I believe ND will be the toughest win due to their QB - Hart.

Heisman is more a popularity contest than ever - difficult for any ACC player to win.

UGA can be had. Easy season means a loss in the SEC Champ game will not keep them out.
I would like to see Clemson vs Alabama this season.

2023 is our next Championship.

Re: 2023 Prediction

I just find it hard to predict a national championship this next season. We’ve been on a CFP drought since 2020. And like I said, we don’t have a bunch of guys with playoff experience. Which matters.

Like I also said, Clemson will be very good. A top-10 team without a doubt. I think we make the playoff. And I think we beat Michigan. And we could beat Georgia, it’s doable if you’ve got the right QB.

I just see it taking another year to bring everything together again and actually doing it.

I think Khaki Pants bubble bursts this year, and we are

1

stuck with Grecian Formula Day again from the BIG. I also think Saban will be back this year. So, SEC probably gets two in. That would make it:

Clemson
Bama
Georgia
OCryo State

I can already hear the Hue and Cry: Same old teams, same old teams! Even though neither we nor Bama were in it last year.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 8:36 AM

I certainly hope you're right. However, ND and NC are a lot more set at QB than Clemson. ND getting Hartman from Wake makes them really tough with an experienced savvy QB. To me it all comes down to Cade. He's played one great game and one not so great game. Can Cade be consistently good enough for Clemson to run the table. I guess we'll see. Clemson looks like they're loaded with good talent and experience everywhere else.

You ae spot on. Our ultimate success, and I do think it's there to be had, will depend on Cade having enough time to operate.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 11:52 AM [ in reply to Re: 2023 Prediction ]

Yeah, that is my concern. Obviously the Furman, LA Tech, and ND games last year made me think a lot of Cade. Weren’t very good games.

But UNC was a great game for him, and really Tennessee was too. Had 320 passing yards, but just no TDs. That was the only thing, getting in the end zone.

Potter also made 2/5 FGs against Tennessee, which would add up to 9 more points. Which would’ve made the game different. Maybe not a win, but closer.

Alabama doesn’t have the QB. They yet again will not make it. They lost Will Anderson as well.

It’s hard to see them being better than they have been with Bryce Young, especially the first year after him leaving.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 11:58 AM

This is all under the assumption that we do have people step up. Cade stepping up, Antonio Williams, Collins. Obviously if no receiver steps up, you can wipe out all of what I said for Clemson. So yes, obviously.

These guys will play to their true levels with Cade and Riley though. It’s just time that Dabo fixes and figures things out. He’s still a top-3 coach in CFB.

I hope you're right. If anyone can do it Dabo can. I just don't see the bodies at wide receiver that can lead us to a playoff. Perhaps the best offensive coordinator in the nation will get the ball to the receivers., We'll see

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 12:12 PM

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the frames of our receivers and their physical attributes. We’ve got big and small. Fast and strong receivers.

Adam Randall is another superhuman. Cole Turner is the fastest on the team. Williams is a great slot option. And Collins is sort of like Justyn Ross.

THEY JUST HAD TO DEAL WITH DJ AND STREETER.

If Marvin Harrison Jr from Ohio State was on a team with DJ and Streeter, he would’ve done the same. It has not been the receivers! It’s hard to play fluently trust your routes and rhythm when the ball doesn’t get to where it needs to be 1) On time, and 2) Accurately.

DJ just always tried to throw too hard and throw missiles. No loft on anything. No feel, no rhythm for the position. Trying too hard to be Mahomes. And Streeter having to deal with it, and also sucking at play-calling.

I think how that new OC uses the running backs will also have a big influence on our success this year. We know we have proven studs in the backfield so a great OC will figure out how to get them the ball in space to succeed.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 1:16 PM

I like this prediction & fully understand the reasoning but my prediction has 1 change:

1. Bama 13-0
2. Clemson 13-0
3. USC 12-1
4. Michigan 12-1

I can’t count out Nick Saban for 2 years in a row. I think he has proven how good he is. Also, I understand the UGA hype but no team in the last 30+ years has ever won 3 in a row (if ever) so to me I just don’t see UGA being an exception to that.

My prediction is UGA gets caught slipping at some point in the season & loses a heart breaker. Then with the playoff on the line in the SECCG I think Saban gets some revenge.

Just my personal thoughts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 1:33 PM

I would totally agree, but what about Alabama makes you think they will be back?

Disregard Saban for a second. Even with Bryce Young and Will Anderson, they didn’t make it last year. I don’t really see how they end up #1 the immediate year after losing both of them.

They’ve got an issue at QB in my opinion.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 3:20 PM

So Bama is actually going to have a really talented receiver room, they have 5 star talent at every position & they have a lot of guys that have played in the CFP. Just think they’re going to be better than everyone thinks

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 5:07 PM

I’m guessing Ty Simpson will be their best option. But he hasn’t shown much apparently because Saban brought in Tyler Buchner, and is obviously still considering Milroe, Simpson, and Buchner all for the job.

I mean they won a title with Jake Coker though. Even though it was a while ago, and they had Derrick Henry, it was still impressive.

Re: 2023 Prediction

Jun 28, 2023, 5:35 PM

I dont think UGA wins the SEC. They have lost an insane amount of talent out of their 2 deep. Bama or LSU will be playing for the SEC. My gut tells me Saban will go back to his roots and focus on running the ball and play aggressive defense this year, not many teams are really built to stop power running teams that have the depth Bama has.

UGA will drop one or two, my bet is Tenn and either ole miss or scar.

Michigan prediction is probably spot on.

USC i also believe is spot on.

As for Clemson i think the toughest game on the schedule is a ND that will come in confident after pounding Clemson last year and now they have a QB who has torched this defense. FSU is a threat but i agree not in the Valley, they will be the 2nd best team in the ACC and in the ACCCG they will play much harder.
