2014 Buckeys

Lost at home to a bad Virginia Tech team that finished the season 7-6. The week after that victor Virginia Tech lost at home to East Carolina.

The same Buckeyes team that had a very bad loss to VT went on to win the national championship. Some of you guys are quick to forget bad early season losses do not matter.

Anything can happen. But how we respond is key. I think the FSU game opens the window on which way we are likely to go.

i dont think it is about forgetting.. or not remembering..



just a normal venting session after a Clemson loss. Clemson will survive... TNET will too

TBH, we seem to forget how many games almost derailed us in the past.
In 2016, we struggled in the Auburn opener, almost lost to Troy, NC State and did lose to Pitt.
The 2017 loss to Syracuse seems similar to the Duke loss.
Even in 2018 we scraped by TA&M and were a 4th down conversion from a loss to Syracuse.
The 2019 had to make a goaline stand against UNC.(A team that is comparable to Duke this year).

Seems like we have probably used our hiccup for the year.

we never get the media attention nor latitude of a darling like Oh St. I wish we did but the ACC anchor weighs us down in that regard. I will further state I don't think there should even be rankings till teams have played 3 or 4 games. Were we worthy of our preseason ranking? No way to tell for a few more games.

Ohio state put up 21 points. We put up 7. They lost by 14, we lost by 21. You’re comparing apples to oranges here bud.

True but they also had 17 players drafted from that team

in the 2015 and 2016 drafts and a couple more in the 2017 draft. I think they set some NFL draft records in 2016 with 5 1st rounders and 12 players going in the 1st 4 rounds.

Included in that were 3 WRs (2 2nd rounders), a 1st round RB, a 1st round OT, and a 3rd round TE. Nearly every defensive starter got drafted including four 1st and 2nd rounders.

TLDR: that team was absolutely stacked with talent on both sides of the ball.

I will happily eat crow in a couple of years if we can look back and say something similar about this team, but I don't think we are even remotely at that level talent-wise right now.
