1985 season under Danny Ford

Nov 26, 2012, 1:39 PM

How many of you all are old enough to remember the 1985 season under Danny Ford? 6-6 (including the bowl loss)

In those pre-internet days, there were large calls for firing him, with claims that the ’81 team was Pell’s, etc.

Thank goodness cooler heads prevailed and the admin gave Ford time.

Losing to WF in the 80's - means pushed around

LMAO. In 1985 we had losses to UGA (7-3-2), GT (9-2-1),

Kentucky (5-6), UNC (5-6), Maryland (9-3), and Minnesota (7-5).

The LOS argument has merit, but you failed here.

My point was the heavy call at that time for Ford's head.

Obviously, Swinney isn't going to be fired but seriously,

do you see things really getting better in terms of our beating teams other than the ACC? Any time we go out of conference we get our heads handed to us, including 4 in a row to Carolina. Should we be satisfied with that?

Clemson has beaten Auburn back to back

USCheat beat them in 1933.

You act like that means something

In case you didn't realize, they are tied with Kentucky for worst team in the SEC..

We beat a woeful Auburn team this year. No credibility in that win.

I do remember that the ACC officials were terrible in our

games against UNC and Maryland, which altered the outcome of both games. That was our first year eligible after the extra year of ACC penalty. That was one of the things Ford was screaming about that year. Those calls ultimately cost CU turning the the season around with 7 consecutive wins and another ACC title (although that was not one of the best teams he coached during his tenure).

The only other thing that was weird was Maryland played the old 6 game ACC schedule, where as CU played 7 teams strangely, as did Uva and a few other ACC teams.

agreed....bad calls in both games***
