Ha, great response for anyone who sat at G-Braves stadium and watched his 4 minute stroll to the mound. Seriously, him and Wilhelm going head to head were good times back in the day!

....fans, other coaches and even players referred to him by his number far more often than by his name.

He was the epitome of what is right with college athletics. It is too bad that he never achieved the goal of winning in all in Omaha.

I had the privilege of meeting him in the summer of 1986. A true southern gentleman.
