Gotta agree with Dazed and Confused. Page's razor lead was one of the best ever in Rock. Need to throw in Heartbreaker too.

What’s interesting about this album is that it’s a tribute album with “covers” of a band that mostly covered other artists songs without properly crediting them or paying them for their use.

yup. Saw Tull, Allman Bros, Springsteen, Steeley Dan, ELP, Hewey Lewis, Steppenwolf, James Gang, Stones at Clemson!,all great in their way, but Zepp was truest to Rock's roots, and packed the most virtuousity into four guys, and probably the band I most wish I had seen.
like all these old rockers they are dying out.Several years ago The Who supposedly played th SB half. But it was Daltry and Towsend and studio musicians playing The Who songs

Not Clemson Sports related but Clemson is where I got a full introduction to LZ. As a take off on this post, a trivia question for everyone:
Which band, over it's history, had Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck as their Lead Guitarist?
No fair cheating with Google.

Yardbirds?
Don't know if correct. I just remember once upon a time many moons ago being surprised that so many famous artists were part of the band. It might be the folks you mentioned... might not.

I THINK the order is that Clapton was with them in 1963, followed by Page and then Beck.

My favorites are a little more chill as I'm in my 50's now ... they still jam ... in no particular order:
- Going to California
- Dy'er Mak'er
- Misty Mountain Hop
- Hey Hey What Can I Do
- Stairway to Heaven
Crank up the cocktail party with these gems - and freshen up those old fashioned's and margaritas ... Go Tigers!

Impossible to narrow it down to just 5.
During my teenage years, and into my early 20s, Led Zep were my favourite band. When I was about 11 or 12, and into Glam Rock and chart music, I was playing pool at a friend's house, when he put Led Zep IV on the record player. Within a couple of bars, I was hooked.
In adult life the sheen has been taken off a little bit, by (a) finding out how much they plagarised old Blues songs without giving credit, and (b) finding out about some of their debauched behaviour off stage.
Still, every so often I put them on my car cd, and can still be blown away by their genius.
One song that nobody seems to have mentioned that I absolutely love is "Since I've Been Loving You"

Right before the Madison Square Garden taped concert which was not their best shows. He caught a John Bonham drumstick at the concert. He said it was like catching lightning in a bottle and just looking at it gave me chills!! I love all types of music and can enjoy a great artist from any genre, but Led was on another level. Structure, tempos, artistry, musicianship!! How many groups have musicians that can be described as the best ever. ?? Bonham is easily one of the best drummers to ever live
Page lead guitar was revolutionary and produced sounds never heard before.
Jones incredible bass work really is what made the sound of Led Zeppelin was all about. Groovy but strong, bluesy but full of rock.
Plant, what even needs to be said. Vocal chords that other singers only wish they could have.
Best. Band. Ever.
