The Boys are Back in Town: Spring practice quick hits
The Clemson football team returned to the practice fields Monday afternoon as The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy and Michael Jackson’s Wanna be Startin’ Somethin’ emanated from the loudspeakers. The boys are indeed back in town as spring practice for the 2016 season started Monday. Full Story » |

Gonna be nice to see all the competition battles this spring, especially on defense. Thats just going to work wonders in the long run.

Between Big Dex and Gary.......
Feb 29, 2016, 6:54 PM
|
|
I really think we got the better of the two. I know all the recruiting services had Gary at number 1 and he deserved it because of his flexibility of playing both DE and DT but to hear Big Dex just dragging O-linemen up and down the field makes me believe that there is no way Gary is doing that at this time. He used his quickness whereas Dex is quick (for a 340 lb man) but uses brute strength to accomplish his goals. I know I am a homer but I do believe that Dexter will be one of if not the catch in this class. Its 10 times harder to find a great DT than it is to find a great DE the proof is in the numbers and I do believe we got one of those great DT's.....

Don't count Israel out just yet.

A lot of folks here thought it was a forgone conclusion that Kelly would be our backup next year. I think it's going to neck and neck if they both stay healthy! ! Which is great... they both bring such different skill sets to the table. Of course Cooper may just leap frog both of them!! We too deep!!!

think the issue/question with israel is not his arm strength.. its more his size, or to be more exact, his height. media guide lists him at 5-11, which may be generous. can he see/throw over DL who are 6-5ish? there are only so many flute's out there. hope the guy does well. but the general rule is 'good big man beats good little man" and bryant and cooper have a big size advantage. again, hope tcker does well. just question his size.

advantage. Usually though, all other things are not equal, and probably not in this case either. Having said that, having only seen Israel briefly under controlled circumstances in last year's spring game, I have no idea how strong his arm is or how good he really is or can be, and neither does anyone else on here.

For some time now, many T-net experts have trumpeted Israel's lack of arm strength.

So I have two questions. Is Dye the number two back and where is big Tyrone Crowder at on that starting o-line?

with him in there. Throw Giella, Green, Falcinelli, and the freshmen in there, and we should be in great shape.

I'm guessing Morris has done better?
It might be a motivation tool for possibly Crowder to lose some weight to run better.

Your guess is as good as mine.
One thing is for certain: We were MUCH better in the run game when Crowder was in the game, so this surprises me.
