10 times since November. Coworkers and I just discussed on the last trip a few weeks ago how congested it was flying into there.
Tragic, gives me a queazy feeling watching this unfold.

Yeah, extremely congested, but everyone flying knows that.

Wifekrzy is confounded on it too, the Blackhawks patrol the river and absolutely know to stay in their corridor and know the arrival vectors into Reagan. Both the heli’s and planes TCAS should’ve been active, no chance the plane could see the heli visually under the nose. Based on the video we’ve seen it’s entirely on the heli, man, just so ####### tragic.

The heli did. They were cleared by FTC to pass the pattern AFTER the CRJ, and never got a visual and crashed into the plane.

not active, the heli was too high as well for what they should be.
ATC guy has some blame for it too.

I just read atc asked heli if it had visual 30 seconds

Before crash. No response.
Then a couple seconds before crash, told heli ti pass behind. Still no response. Not sure what ATC can do in that situation. Maybe abort plane landing.

Scokker... any insight on how it could be ATC.

I mean I know they will be investigated, but it seems like they did what they could.
I was just wondering if the missus had any insight.
Been a while, butI have been hooked on the 747 pilot on YouTube. Kelsey, ir something like that.

ATC saw the still potential collision, never gave a direction to either

the plane to quickly to a go around or for the heli to adjust course, only reconfirmed a visual. It’s looking like the heli pilot was confirming a visual on the wrong aircraft.
We’re all in hindsight on this, it just sucks.

That approach into Reagan is weird. It's an odd feeling to thread along the Potomac looking up at folks on their balcony in high rises or worse yet when there is a low ceiling and you know there is not much room for error.
This one appears to be definitely on the helicopter pilot and perhaps ATC as well.
Very sad for the families.
