just pulled the trigger on a fancy maple cutting board.

considered a John Boos one a couple yrs ago, but never pulled the trigger. Now this one will look nice in our remodeled kitchen.
Got the Serious Eats 16 x 22 edge grain with added juice perimeter groove on the bottom. I don't care about the Serious Eats imprint, just wanted Edge grain and the 1.75" thickness cause Mrs No was concerned about weight. Looks like these people are first class. https://theboardsmith.com/collectionsCollections The Boardsmith makes the finest wood butcher block available out of premium hardwoods like maple, walnut and cherry. Out butcher block cutting boards are prized by chefs, gourmands, and knife collectors.

Helllllll yeah. Solid, solid purchase. The juice ring is crucial too.

really liked the end grain Carolina Cut 16 x 22 w/finger grooves and juice groove, but balked at $345. Once I get this first one and see the quality first hand, maybe that one is in my future.
BTW, notice the Secret Discount for new customers - $20 off $200 or more.

I still sell some things in a store in town. Otherwise, I'll make custom orders. Did one for wilmo a while back.

Buddy of mine in Greenville makes stuff like that as a hobby. Gave me one for my birthday - was a great gift.

Seems like if they really had tons of cracking boards, they wouldn't be so popular. But it seemed to me that if the key to avoiding cracks is oiling sufficiently, why do they ship their boards bone dry?

works prutty good. No juice ring, so that sucks, but I'll probably mostly cut stuff on it I can wipe off anyway.
