Tye Hill Goes to Rams with 15th Pick |
CLEMSON -- The St. Louis Rams selected former Clemson cornerback Tye Hill with the 15th pick of the first round of the NFL draft on Saturday. The Rams acquired the 15th pick from Denver in a deal that gave the Broncos the eleventh pick.
Hill was considered by many including NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper as the best pure cover corner in the draft. He had the fastest 40 yard time (4.30) at the NFL combine. The 5-10, 185-pound defensive back had 54 tackles, seven pass breakups, three interceptions and a forced fumble for Clemson, last season. He is the 20th first round pick for the Tigers overall and the first since 2001 when Washington selected wide receiver Rod Gardner. The 15th pick in the 2005 draft was former Texas linebacker Derrick Johnson to Kansas City. Johnson reportedly signed a 5 year deal worth $10.4 million with guarantees between $7.4 and $7.8 million.
