with the news Monday evening.

“I just got off the phone with him a little bit ago,” Hearn told TigerNet. “They have been recruiting me for a good while now. I have just been thinking and thinking about it, and then I talked to my parents about it. I just feel like Clemson is a good place for me to go to school and get an education and also play football.”

Hearn said Swinney was “ecstatic” when he heard the news.

“I called Coach Swinney, and he was ecstatic,” Hearn said. “He just wanted to make sure I was committed all the way. I told him I was, and he told me he was ready for me to come up there.”

Hearn has made several trips to Clemson, including this past weekend for Elite Junior Day, but said the visit isn’t what helped make up his mind.

“I guess the visit had a little effect, but not much,” he said. “I love the coaching staff because they are very family-oriented and the make you feel at home. I like the campus and all of the facilities.”

Hearn, whose older brother Ryan Hearn walked on with the Tigers as a defensive lineman back in 1999, also had an offer from North Carolina while South Carolina and Alabama were showing interest.

Hearn plays right tackle in high school, and said the Tigers are getting the kind of offensive lineman that Clemson fans crave.

“Clemson fans will see a big, fast and physical guy that wants to be dominant,” he said. “I love the game and I am very serious about it. I am serious about what I do, and I am going to put everything I have into whatever I do.”
