Defensive Back Waiting For Clemson Offer

by -

Rodriguez Johnson

Defensive back, J.L. Mann High School

5'10", 170 lbs.

Bench presses 275 lbs.

SCVarsity.com #19 Player in South Carolina

As a junior, Rodriguez Johnson had six interceptions (one

of which he returned for a touchdown), had 300 yards receiving with nine

touchdowns, and returned two punts for touchdowns. He is currently being

recruited by Clemson, Kentucky, South Carolina, South Carolina State,

Virginia, and North Carolina. Has received offers from South Carolina,

Kentucky, and South Carolina State.

"I would love to go to Clemson, but since they haven't made an offer yet,

I would say that I am leaning towards Kentucky," Johnson said. "When I

visited Clemson, I really liked the people and the atmosphere. I was able

to build relationships with people like (freshman) Sergio Gilliam."

"Another factor will be what position a program wants to use me at. I

like playing defense, but I am very versatitle, so you can put me on offense

and special teams."

More from Johnson

Is it important to stay in the state or does it

matter?

Clemson would have to offer, then I would stay in

state. My friends Tramaine Billie and Sergio Gilliam

both are at Clemson. I competed against both of them

in track and we became friends that way. I beat Sergio

multiple times in the 100 and the 200, but Tramaine

beat me in the 100 and I beat him in the 200.

Have you taken the SAT or the ACT?

No, I plan to take them at the earliest time so I

can get that out of the way. I would probably have

more offers from schools if I had the scores. I think

that is why I have so few offers. It will pick up.

What position would you like to play in college?

I really could not say that I have a favorite, but

I would say split end or safety-it is hard to pick

between the two.

Do you want to be a two-sport collegiate athlete?

Yes, I want to run track in college-I love track.

Is there a University that you have dreamed of

playing for?

LSU, they have a good track program and I really

liked them when Josh Reed was there.
