He grew up in Augusta, Georgia and grew up liking Clemson. He prefers to play safety in college. Has has taken unofficial visits to Alabama, Clemson, and Auburn. He has camped at Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and Tennessee. Elston had 104 tackles and three interceptions with 28 catches for 569 yards and six touchdowns last fall. Class of 2012 ESPNU 150 Watch List Recruit. He won't make a final college decision until after football season and probably until NSD.
