Last year Dabo Swinney landed a commitment from Tyler Grisham during summer camps, once again Swinney has landed a verbal commitment during summer camps. Deantwan Whitehead committed to the Clemson today over offers from Auburn, Louisville, Arkansas, Alabama, and others.

"Everything felt great up there. It really seemed like a place that I could play for four years. Coach Hobby will be my position coach and I really like him. He seemed like a players coach, and a guy you know will be there for you."

Swinney continues to make Clemson a very strong factor in the state of Alabama.

"Coach Swinney is awesome. He is a great recruiter. He is an Alabama guy, and he told me that he has some other guys from Alabama that he signed for Clemson."

Is Whitehead a firm commitment?

"Yeah I am firm commitment. I will visit Auburn and Georgia, but Clemson is ahead of them. I still might take some official visits after my season too. It was time for me to commit to Clemson. Everything felt great at the camp, and I wanted to the leave the state."

Whitehead is the third verbal commitment for the class of 2006 joining Jamie Cumbie and Byron Maxwell.
