Montario Hardesty - Running Back
Height: 6-0   Weight: 190   Hometown: New Bern, NC (New Bern HS)   Class: 2005
ESPN: NR

Although North Carolina was defeated in this year's Shrine Bowl, it

wasn't because of a lack of effort on the part of Montario Hardesty. The New Bern High running back was named as an Offensive MVP, rushing for 53 yards and scoring one touchdown.

That effort gave a glimpse of what Hardesty did during his senior

campaign at New Bern. In leading his team to the third round of the state playoffs, Hardesty rushed for over 2,200 yards and scored 28 touchdowns. He also had 268 yards receiving, scoring four times.

With his high school career finished, Montario is able to focus on his

college options. And judging by the interest he has received, Hardesty will be able to choose from some of the top programs in the nation.

Among the schools that have offered are Clemson, South Carolina,

Nebraska, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and North Carolina State.

"Right now, I am leaning towards South Carolina and Tennessee,"

Hardesty said. "I think Clemson is a very good school. But I am pretty sure that the coach who was recruiting me was one of those who got fired, so I am really not sure where that leaves things."
