Clemson has spot recruited the state of Louisiana with Burton Burns since Burns was hired at Clemson. Burns is back in Baton Rouge this year, and he is still evaluating tight end Frank Alexander.
To this point, Alexander only has an offer from Southern Miss. Schools are recruiting Alexander, as a defensive end and tight end, but he says Clemson has talked mostly with him about tight end. "Coach Burns said Clemson is recruiting a lot of tight ends. He said their offense is changing to get the tight end more involved. Clemson has a lot to offer. It seems like a small town atmosphere, which I like, because there would not be a lot of distractions." The Tigers are in the door with Alexander, but he is hoping for an offer from the Bayou Bengals. "LSU would be my favorite. They are right here at home, and they are a great program. Coach Fisher called me, and he said they are recruiting me as a defensive end. They want to get me on campus before they offer." Alexander has no preference on what position he plays in college. "I enjoy playing on both sides of the ball. In high school, I have played well at both positions. My coach will put me where I have the best chance to be successful. It will be up to them at the next level, because I know I can't play on both sides of the ball."
