Academy Awards, TMC, and 1984 USC vs Navy

The midshipmen were at their best on that day in 1984, but has anyone else noticed all the best service musicals showcase the USN? Is their something about big ships that just makes fellas want to shake a leg, or is it just that those navy dress whites have so much more stage panache than other service uniforms? And I'll note the Village People never sang about “In the Army.”
