Are the Texans behind the DW4 smear?

The timing is stupidly convenient for them ...
It helps to decrease his marketability by a lot

I think they're content to hold him unless they get a Godfather offer, and there are definitely two or three teams willing to send them three firsts and more. So they need him to remain a buy high guy.
This isn't the first occurrence of "convenient timing". When did that Laremy Tunsil mask bong video come out, like thirty minutes before the draft started? Somebody clearly wants to hurt Deshaun but it's not the Texans. Lol they could probably do a better job than this pizz-poor attempt at defamation.

Why would the Texans want to have their franchise quarterback be accused of sexual assault? If they wanted to trade him then it would only hurt them in getting less for him in a trade.
If the argument is for trying to lower his value to keep him there then that makes zero sense. They have him under contract for another 5 years. If they're interested in keeping him for those 5 years then why would they want to make him less marketable? Why would they want potential bad press around how their franchise quarterback may have done something like that?

Mighty, mighty convenient. Nothing would surprise me when it comes to the shady dealings of the NFL. Ever watched Ballers?

As much as I despise the Texans organization, this accusation both decreases Deshaun's trade value and also forces the team to send him away even if they wanted to keep him in Houston.

I don't think they want to drive the value down. It seems like they may want to make letting him go look justifiable to the fanbase. Seems like both could be true - multiple accusations make it more likely it happened, however, the timing suggests the Texans knew about it all along and now they are leaking it! It's looking filthy on many levels. Needless to say, I'm quit certain Deshaun will never play another game for this organization.

There is absolutely no positive for the Texans

They owe him his contract. Nothing gained. If you think they would use morals clause, and get out of contract, then they get nothing for him. It devalues any trade potential.
The Texans would only want to increase his value, not decrease.
