Former Clemson standout reportedly 'nearing a deal' to play in China

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson standout Trevor Booker might have a new basketball home soon.

According to reports, Booker is nearing a deal with the Shanxi Brave Dragons of the North Division of the Chinese Basketball Association. This is no garbage team overseas as NBAers Brandon Jennings and Luis Scola both played for the Brave Dragons last season.

Former NBA star Stephon Marbury played for Shanxi back in 2010 and has a huge following in China as he played for the Foshan Dralions (2010-2011), Bejing Ducks (2011-2017), and the Bejing Fly Dragons (2017-2018). He recently announced his retirement from the Chinese league in February.

Booker has averaged 6.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season. For his NBA career, he averaged 6.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

He was drafted as the No. 23 pick overall in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft.
