McKnight Still on Basketball Team |
CLEMSON — Rumors that rising senior Jamar McKnight will be another name added
to the list of transfers from the Clemson University basketball program are unfounded, according to coach Larry Shyatt and Sports Information Director Tim Bourret. At least for the time being. Shyatt said Wednesday night that McKnight was still with the team and in school, a statement Bourret confirmed later in the evening. “He’s still with us,” Bourret said. “He had some family illness back in Louisiana and missed a week of class, but to my knowledge he’s back on campus.” McKnight reportedly has been depressed in recent weeks due to a death in his family. Rumors had circulated in the past 24 hours that McKnight hadn’t shown up this week for final exams. “I haven’t heard that he’s not taking exams,” Bourret said. McKnight, a junior college transfer last season, averaged 3.4 points and 1.3 rebounds for the Tigers. He averaged 9.4 minutes per game and shot 39 percent from the 3-point line.
