Clemson signee selected #28 overall in MLB Draft

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson 2016 signee Carter Kieboom from Marietta, GA was selected by the Washington Nationals with the #28th selection in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

Kieboom is 6-2, 185 lbs and can play third base, shortstop or pitcher (throws with any hand) and is rated as a 2014 Underclass Honorable Mention according to Perfectgame.org.

Clemson fans should know the name because he is the younger brother of former Clemson catcher Spencer Kieboom, who is currently in the Washington Nationals farm system.

His favorite player is Nomar Garciaparra and he likes to do anything outdoors including fishing according to his MLB Network's draft profile.

His Perfectgame.org profile: "Both handed pitcher, more natural from the right side, quick right arm from a high three-quarters arm slot, good spin on 11-5 curveball, fastball up to 85. From the left side, he pitched from a three-quarter arm slot with an online delivery and an extended release, less smooth and natural from the left side but was effective from both sides with a fastball up to 80 from the left side."
