Born in Alabama but raised in Camden, South Carolina. Graduated from USC in 1980 with a BS Degree in Criminal Justice. Started my career as a deputy sheriff in Richland County before moving to Charlotte, NC in 1983. One of many deputies assigned to court when serial killer Pee-Wee Gaskins was on trial in Columbia for murdering another inmate at CCI. I rode down the elevator with him and two of the hugest deputies I have ever seen in your life. I was amazed at how small a person he was...very short and small in stature. And a squeeky-souding annoying voice. I retired from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in July 2010 after a 29 year plus career in law enforcement. I have seen enough death and destruction to realize in life that sports are fun to watch but I am not caught up in all the hate and hype of rabid fans. My next door neighbor for about eight years was a Clemson grad my age but we never talked football....he was just a good neighbor and someone I respected.
