Day games and no TV time and putting others down for being pissed!

#1 I don't care what happened in the 70's or 80's. This is 2009 and nor did the 70's or 80's have the sports channels or even the time slots available to sports as there are now.

#2 I don't care whether or not we one last week. We're playing TCU, the #15 team in the country for pete sake, during a week where the top games are GT-NC and Miami-VT. We've played prime time ESPN games against lesser oppenents in the past and not even ranked ourselves.

#3 I don't care if you're an old geezer and need to be home to be in bed by 7. You are in the minority.

#3 Teams don't get the recruits that it takes to be a powerhouse by playing on ESPN360 when playing a ranked opponent. They get that way by beating ranked opponents in Prime Time Cameras.

#4 I don't give a crap about any of your lame excuses to be content with day games, especially when they're not televised and can be scheduled at any time. Night games on TV bring an atmosphere like none other. Every day game I've been to at clemson has been the equivalent of like being at Church and that includes last seasons Scar game. Every night game I've been too has been rocking. GT 2006 being the most memorable and BC 2007 next in line.

The majority of Clemson fans are pissed, get over it or go pull for a team that can't afford stadium lights.

arguement has grown tiresome. I don't really care what you grew up with... if there's one lesson that you should have learned by now, it's that things change. Night games are more fun and provide a better atmosphere. It's funny, some of these people get so bent of tradition, yet I see no one in a suit and tie at the games... You know, that's how they used to dress too!

Night games pretty consistently tend to be louder crowds.

Sep 14, 2009, 10:11 PM

That in turn, generally makes it a little tougher on the opponents. To me, if T.V. doesn't pick your game up, why not go with the tougher environment?

Oh, and this particulary applies to games in the month of September.

That's the option, but with horns blowing, constant start and stop, and it just being plain late for a true night game, it's more pure exhaustion than real sleep at that point. Clemson is unique. It is not centrally located. Night games pose a real challenge for fans in the eastern part of the state with families. and their are pleny of us.

Re: I dont really party that hard

Sep 15, 2009, 10:41 AM

I said most, so exception noted. But do you have the vehement objection that many are stating? I don't know, when attending a game it's never been a big deal to me when it started. This Saturday is supposed to be partly cloudy with highs in the low 80's. That's pretty sweet. The point I was trying to make, and many others, is that a late start is a real detriment to people with young families. And it can't be denied that the late games do contribute to the drunkenness at games. Last night game I went to was VT in 08, seats near the student section. I love the student section, but my luck that n ight was a truly obnoxious drunk 2 rows down who was finally escorted out and a girl who barfed all over the row in front of her across the aisle. Not exactly what you wannt kids to see. And yes, it could happen at a day game also.

3:30 is afternoon games to me. While 12 and 1 are day games (not a huge differentiation, I know). At least at 3:30 it cools some during the game and gets darker so by the 4th quarter the lights are on when the game may be on the line.

They may walk by a TV with a game on it from time to time, but their not watching. Most 18 year males have other things on their minds. I don't think this hurts recruiting. Most of these coaches are telling these recruits and their parent(s) everything they want to hear, and that's what their selling. Do you think they whip out video tapes and say "heres us on ESPN, September 26, 2009, during the TCU game! See we're on the tube. Come on people, buy a friggin ticket, and go to the game. Quit worrying about the petty stuff. We ain't in the SEC, and we never will be. One day the SEC will suck again, just like when Auburn went undefeated and they didn't get a chance.

You are missing several points to your e-mail.

1. Coaches, AD's, or the City of a University want night games. The ONLY people that WANT or Perfer night games are the FANS. Period!

2. Coaches hate late games. It throws their schedule out of whack and they have to entertain and keep the players out of trouble, keep them focused longer, feed them an extra meal etc...

3. AD same thing....

4. City and University has to pay overtime for the police dept, SLED, etc. More arrest, longer hrs etc

5. The TV stations get their picks of the what games they want to carry...not the University's. The networks are the ones that choose. That is why it changes week to week. Rankings and outcomes of previous games determine networks choices. All they care about is ratings.

Just facts

Clemson is a day game school always have been, always will be. Get over it, if want to pull for a team that plays night games move to Louisiana and pull for LSU, if you want to stay close to SC go pull for the shamecocks. There are plenty of teams across the country that play a majority of their games in the day. In fact thats when most college games take place is in the day. Check your tv listings you will find a majority of College games are played during the day. The Florida Gators play a majority of their games during the day and they have won 2 out of the last 3 national titles. I like day games because I like the sunlight, as do alot of Clemson fans. Just face it day games are a Clemson tradition like the hill, the rock, and the big #### paw on the helmet

Us old geezers used to just hear it from the loud mouth drunk dude 2 rows back. Now, Loud Mouth Drunk Dude can broadcast to thousands over the internet without fear of being punched, getting arrested, or having everyone know he peed his pants in the third quarter.

You make some good points, but you sure are loud.

I wish it were a night game because...

Sep 15, 2009, 10:10 AM

that would mean that a network wanted to televise our game. I wish our team would earn that respect by winning football games. Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet. Since the game isn't going to be televised and the networks aren't dictating a night game Clemson has decided to play the game at our traditional start time of 1:00. I just don't see what the problem with that is. As far as comparing the atmosphere of day and night games goes, the reason the night games are more electric is because when Clemson plays a night game it means they have been forced to do so by a network. This means that the game is big enough on a national scale to warrant this attention. Naturally a bigger game means a more electric atmosphere whether it's day or night.

If you don't like the day game atmosphere then do your part to improve it. You wanna complain about the stadium not rocking but I bet you're one of the people sitting on their hands with their mouth shut at the games.

What do you want us to do, Ron?

Sep 15, 2009, 10:25 AM

It's not like we're voting on when a game actually starts.

None of us have any control over it. Folks are just saying why they like starting times when. It's really nothing to get upset about or, more importantly, nasty about.

been on TV with a possible night game. We don't deserve better because we LOST.

I am not so sure the rest of the Nation gives a crap about a perceived mediocre Clemson team vs TCU.

Just win.
