After the post about wearing a "NObama" shirt to the game this weekend, I didn't think I would see anything dumber. But a select few of you have outdone yourselves today with the post about how no white people would have celebrated like Jackson did last night and suggesting that the SC State band is somehow a joke.
I like to think that we are so much better than that. I like to think that we welcome all visitors to the valley with grace and treat opponenets with respect. Clemson was one of the few schools in the South to integrate without any major incident. We're better than this. Let's welcome SC State and treat them to a great day of football in Death Valley. And let's PLEASE keep posts concerning racial and cultural matters off of Tigernet.

Someone last night suggested wearing a shirt that said "NObama" to the game this weekend. It had no orange on it. The sole reason that I could tell he wanted to wear it was to somehow start something with SC State fans. If not, then I really don't know what could compel him to NOT wear orange.
I'm in no way suggesting that every white person who hates Obama is racist.

I thought the timing of it seemed suspect. Regardless, the posts about SC State's band being ridiculous looking and white people not celebrating after TD's needed to be adressed, too.

their band is great and very talented. Being former Tiger Band, I fully appreciate the talent it takes to do some of the stuff they do. Also, the celebration comment was uncalled for.

It's not the shirt itself that made his post seem racially motivated. Why not wear that shirt last week? Or for the Maryland game? Wearing it when we play an Historically Black College suggests a racial motivation.
Maybe I misjudged it. I don't think so, but maybe.

I've already addressed this in other posts. It was the fact that it had no orange on the shirt and he was choosing to wear to the game THIS weekend. Not last weekend or next weekend. But this weekend. When we play an historically black college. The timing seems terrible.
I didn't suggest he was racist solely because he wasn't supporting Obama. There's a Clemson game this weekend. Regardless of the opponenet, wear something orange.

I will be wearing Orange as usual... but I see lots of campaign stickers on people's shirts every election year... if you want to keep politics out of Death Valley... keep the politicians from shaking hands outside the stadium as well
