A LITTLE ADVICE for some of our younger friends:
Dec 3, 2015, 9:02 PM
|
|
All this garbage being bandied about by the media about our game against the Heels is just that: garbage.
You see, most of us older Tigers have been down this same road...in 1981...after Clemson defeated S.C., was ranked Number One and was slated to face the mighty Number Four Nebraska led by the legendary Tom Osborne.
Virtually the entire media was "certain" the Cornhuskers would send us limping back home, and unfortunately, some Clemson folks began to doubt our chances. Now, the media is using an old journalistic trick to gain viewers: they are creating controversy and doubt.
Even ole Coach Fedora is in on the act, saying that UNC DESERVES a spot in the playoffs with a victory. And everyone thinks that motivates his team. What isn't being said is that we know that Clemson WILL go to the playoffs with a win. That's called having the proverbial bird in hand. So, who do you suppose is more motivated?
Now, I read where our men are worn out, beat up. Maybe so, but if that's a fact, then SO IS MOST EVERY OTHER TEAM IN THIS NATION that's played 12 games. OUR MEN ARE CONDITIONED...TRAINED, if you will, for battle. They are not some weak-kneed bunch of toddlers on an Easter egg hunt.
Lastly, as TigerNetters have shown, look at UNC's schedule and try to tell me they are a better team. HORSESH*T HORSESH*T HORSESH*T. Yes, they are a good team, BUT THEY AIN'T BETTER THAN THE CLEMSON TIGERS. That's why, my Friends, virtually every one of the babbling media bastages would be unwilling to stake a year's wages on a UNC victory.
Lastly, in 1981, after hearing the psychobabble day in and day out, I decided to ignore all of it and keep my faith in the Number One-ranked team in the land...CLEMSON....My faith was rewarded.
GO TIGERRRRRRRRRRS!!!! ######.....STOMP THE TAR HEELS!!!!

The ole Lake Murray Gentleman is getting sky hyped a little early & readily emotional about his Clemson Boys..
And for that I concur that the pundits are trying to jazz us fans so to sell their products & stir uP the pot tOO.
It's working & I'm loving it to an extent since I, like Hartins, see thru it & know our Clemson Team is going to win Saturday.
Keep ROCKing Em #1 TiGERs! ??

I decided after Wednesday's incessant, "if North Carolina wins..." I would just turn off ESPN. When the game begins, I want to concentrate on the Tigers, not their psychobabble.
What ever happened to Jim Lampley after all those Tiger fans wrote and/or called ABC?

I remember the whole week thinking Nebraska IS NOT going to run the ball down THIS teams throat and this week I know UNC is NOT going to stop this Clemson team from scoring.
I don't care what UNC has, where they have been or what they have done- it isn't enough to prepare them for what lies ahead.
We are a great program, a clean program and a program built to last. What 12 opponents couldn't do this year, the media is trying to.
I am liking that streak to hit 13 on Saturday and then the media can spew for 30 more days why we lose in Miami. I am guessing they already have us on upset alert for that game too
It's Championshp Eve- head to toe in Orange!!

Exactly. The media is paid to stir the pot and NONE of these folks really believe Clemson will lose to uncheat. What many of them are hoping is a "I told you so" moment. You can tell by the smirks, the grins, the giggles. One point that these guys CONTINUE to overlook is uncheat's ranking against the RUN. 107th!!!!!! This will feed right into our hands. Our guys will leave NOTHING on the sideline this game. The stadium should be about 65-35 Clemson tomorrow night and our guys will feed off our fans and vice versa. I expect it to be a good game, but I also expect us to come away with the victory, Im thinking in the 45-31 range. GO TIGERS!!!!!!! See you guys in Charlotte!!!!!!!!!

Well said. Media craves upsets and new storylines. As in most things media reports usually reveal their predisposition. In this case we should simply trust our coaches and the process of preparation. We should trust our athletes and their desire. Let's get the next team goal. I believe.

very few media outlets. There was no internet, no social media, no fulltime sports channels on TV or radio. The newspaper and evening sports segment on the local news were their voice. Not nearly as much "talk" as we're inundated with.
Do choose to listen to trusted, logical analysts. Don't listen to biased shills with an obvious agenda.
