Dabo recaps spring practice, Kelly situation and religion

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney covered a lot of ground Wednesday, participating in two conference calls with the media while also dealing with the heartbreaking loss of a family member.

Don't sleep on Peake and drop permanent rivals

Peake always seemed like a good possession receiver with the ability to break off some nice YACs. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people in the UGA game.

I really don't like the fact that we go close to a decade before playing some teams in the Coastal. The conference has become large enough that we can really do away with the permanent cross-division rival.

Yes I agree I miss beating UNC in football every year. There was a time when UNC was one of Clemson's biggest ACC rivals.

I would like to see the ACC make Notre Dame come into the league full time and if they refuse kick them to the curb and invire Central Florida and UCONN. Then go to four groups.

South
Miami
FSU
Central Florida
GaTech

Carolina
Clemson
UNC
NCState
Duke

Central
Wake Forest
UVA
VaTech
Pitt

North
BC
Cuse
U of L
Uconn or ND

I just think it would make more sense than what we have now. The Coastal/Atlantic setup without a geographic foundation makes no sense to me.

I would prefer 3 permanent rivals like we have 2 in basketball.....
I would say for us that it should be GaT, FSU, NCSt
For FSU it would be Clemson, Miami, BC
you play the 3 permanent rival every year and 5 other teams, and 5 different teams the next year. play everyone in the conference 2 times every four years. Top 2 teams play in the Championship game, no division champs.

GaT rivals could be Clemson, VaT, UNC
VaT ---- GaT, Pitt, Va
.........

Nice!

Wonder which ACC Coastal teams avoid FSU until 2020?

If (as Dabo says) we don't play UVA again until 2020, I wonder which ACC Coastal schools get the benefit of not having to face FSU (or Clemson) for long stretches like that.

Having FSU and Clemson in the same division is definitely a competitive benefit to all the Coastal schools and a big drawback to Clemson. And of course, having them both in the same division is a huge obstacle to title chances for all the other Atlantic division schools.

Clemson and FSU should definitely play each other every year, but they should be in separate divisions.

A few years ago... you could have made the same argument for VaT and GaT being in the same division... Miami and VaT are going to be back just like FSU is back...
If we do not go to 9 games then I think we need to end the divisions. let top 2 teams play in championship game .... I like the 3 permanent rivals + 5 that change each year.
