SMU guard calls Clemson offensively challenged
SMU guard Ryan Manuel thinks the winner of Tuesday's night's matchup with Clemson will be the stronger defensive team. He also said that Clemson is challenged to score, despite the presence of K.J. McDaniels. What does head coach Larry Brown say about McDaniels? Photo by Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports Full Story » |

So he's basically saying, Clemson is mentally retarded on offense.

We are going to beat them so bad, their program won't need the NCAA to give them another death penalty; we'll take care of it ourselves.

Well it does seem that they have scouted us pretty well. But in regular season games, not so much in our post season games. I think that ever since Harrison and Hall have up their game, we have done a decent job getting the ball in the basket. So bring it on SMU, and we will see who plays in the championship game. And you will have to pay a lot of attention to KJ just to slow him. Goooo Tigersssss!!!

Thought we matched up pretty well with UVa, so I think we can beat them. We seemed to do well this year in defensive grinders.

Larry Brown's career winning percentage is in the 50's.

He's won a lot of games, but he has lost a lot too. He's going to lose another one on Tuesday. I'd put Brownell's basketball knowledge and coaching ability up against just about anyone, including Larry Brown.

Coach K has seen and done it all also, and we actually beat them twice and Pit once. Just b/c Clemson is Brad's first big school, it doesn't mean that he hasn't seen and done all himself.

We ARE offensively challenged . that's WHY we're in the NIT

Otherwise, we'd have made a nice run in the NCAAs.
What's SMU's excuse for being relegated to the NIT ... ???

why motivate your opponent before a big game? Tigers, keep quiet and let your playing do your talking.

I've watched a few SMU games this year and they are for real

They beat Memphis, UConn, Cincinnati, and LSU. They beat UConn twice including at UConn. I think Clemson fans would be happy with those types of signature wins so they are not a push over. Clearly those wins are the reason they were the #1 overall seed in the NIT.
Looking back at our season it would be true to say that we have been offensively challenged at times, but if you look at the last few games we seem to have found offense when we needed it. I am not so worried about this anymore. I am confident we can compete with them. Our home floor has given us an edge in the first three games just as their home floor has done for them. On a neutral court I like our chances for pulling the upset.
