and who can blame the Auburn fans??? After all, they're defending national champions---I'm certain they'll have a huge following at all their away games.

They would have a huge following if they didn't have a winning season.

They couldn't even sell out the Clemson game last year in Auburn. You could buy tickets at the stadium last year right up until kickoff.
And with $cam and Fairly off to the NFL, along with another 28 players from last year's team... I'd be surprised if Auburn sold their allotment of tickets. This game will have 95% Clemson fans in the seats.

The SEC stadiums don't sell out except at LSU. That's why they allow chickens to crow and artificial noisemakers. The SEC is just a creation of the ESPN marketing machine. Notice they NEVER pan to upper decks during SEC games?
Come to the Valley when you want to see a packed house rock out.

2009?
Jul 19, 2015, 5:53 PM
|
|
Let's get 2009 straight too:
17. Clemson 75,793 18. South Carolina 75,369
How does little ol' Clemson outdraw a team situated in one of the most populous areas in the state, having their best 2-year run in history?
I'm not one to worry too much about attendance, but if you're going to lean on your conference, as you chickens normally do, you should at least throw in the fact Clemson beat uSC.

I wonder if Clemson's attendance numbers will drop this year because they are using the electronic scanning devices which give a more accurate number than the previous estimations. Does either school count attendance by the number of tickets sold or the actual number of people in the stadium?

I know this thread is now about trash talk much more than about actual discussion, but I thought I'd throw out that USC ticket sales are down due to much of the older fans being upset about Hyman's YES plan, which increased ticket prices substantially. My family's tickets cost $2,245 for 4, which averages out to nearly $600 a ticket. Comparing that to Clemson's $309 a ticket, its not hard to see why Clemson's attendance is very slightly higher than USC's, especially in the middle of a recession.

So, half priced tickets are the only reason why we have a slightly higher attendance number?
Of that $2,245, what fraction of that is considered your donation to the athletics program? My 4 tickets and IPTAY donation total out at $2,636 which is much higher than that $309 a ticket number you were using for comparison.
However, if that $2,245 for 4 tickets is in addition to your annual donation, you're getting ripped off unless you have seats right in the heart of that cockroach.
