Wake win was coaching ... They "coached'em up" Pure & simple
Oct 18, 2009, 9:45 AM
|
|
Every "expert" from Heather Dinich to the Avenue of Champions Blogger and too many Tigernetters to count in bewteen was convinced that our main problem was coaching and that this crew was simply in over their collective heads.
Well sure ... it's just one game, and sure ... there's a lot of football still to be played, but folks, this was the most important game of Dabo Swinney's career and when the doubters were marching in the streets, and the experts already had prepared their "I-told-ya-so's" Dabo and his coaches carefully brewed and served up a huge steaming cup
Personally, I LOVE it!!
And I think I'm in the majority.
Go Tigers ... beat Miami on the way to Tampa!!

running the table especially winning at Miami may be too much to ask. BC's schedule looks very manageable for them to win out which would force us to win out. Tall order.

This was typical Tommy Bowden. Back to the wall, must win and win. Fan base gets hopes up again, lose to Miami, beat Coastal and lose another we are not suppose to lose.

Hah! I was thinking this same thing. But I wanted to wait and see if my prediction would come true by the end of the season. Historically speaking, it has proven to be a popular trend in Clemson football...its happened every year for the past decade. "Give'em just enough to have that glimmer of hope..."

I agree to an extent, but most important game of Dabo's..

career is now against Miami. And after Miami it's the next one and so on. If fans will all just take this game by game and let's just see where things stand when it's all said and done. Let's try to not over-react too much until we're at an appropriate point to evaluate. I have to take my own advice here. I think it is perfectly okay as a fan to analyze individual performances, but hold off on the fire this coach or that one until we have seen a body of work. None of us know how this will turn out. TDP took a huge gamble hiring inexperience, but that does not mean inexperience will necessarily fail! Napier had a good gameplan for one drive against TCU. Yesterday he had a good plan for a half or more. Let's wait and see if he will be a quick study. We all like the Steele hire. Only time will tell. Peace out.

Watching the game saturday showed me that the coaches woke up and finally made some corrections an better play calling. Dabo pulled out some plays that havent been used in the past 5 years. I'm sure they were expecting every play to be the bubble screed and the swing pass to spiller.

how can you shut people up winning a game to get back to .500? It would seem that EVERY game has been the most important game of Dabo's career. As far as that steaming cup of ####, better drink it FAST cause the next game will be another "most important game of his career". Better get to coaching em up!

You can't shut some people up. Very true.

But you appear to be in the minority on this one.
Sure the Miami game is important ... now.
But, it would not have been if the Wake game was a loss.
And yes, they coached poorly before the Maryland game ... obviously, LOL.
Otherwise, no need to coach'em UP for Wake.

And I want Dabo to succeed. However it was just one good looking win. I have guarded optimism.

Glad to see they made changes to the offense. My question is why did it take so long? Hoping for the best.

In our losses, it wasn't playcalling - it was execution.

Been saying that (agreeing with the coaches) all along.
We executed Saturday. The plays were the same, the coaches were the same, and obviously the players were the same. We just executed better.
All-in.

actually the game was called...

a bit differently in regards to formation(I-formation with FB leading the way) and pass/run selection on certain downs.
We DID execute better, but the coaches also called a better game IMHO. And again, it's Wake in Death Valley. Be happy for the win but keep in mind this was a game we were SUPPOSED to win.

Just executed better.
As if it needs to be said - Wake is a solid, well-coached team who is capable of beating anyone on a given Saturday. We MADE them look worse than anyone I can remember.

It was the same exact offense we've run all year. There might have been a different play call or two, but the offense was exactly the same.
The difference was it was executed better.

If they get the criticism when things go bad, they deserve credit when things go right...
Now beat Miami!
