Bowl scouts impressed by South Carolina ...

Sep 29, 2006, 8:05 AM

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Scouts from the Bronco Pro-Flip Horseshoe Bowl and the Mills Grenade Bowl left Williams Brice Stadium impressed with the Gamecocks Thursday night.
"It's early, but I'd rank this moral victory right up there with Air Force's loss to Tennessee and Colorado's loss to Georgia," said Horseshoe Bowl President Mike Mofitt. "If they can lose respectably to Tennessee, Florida, and Clemson, then we'd be very interested in Carolina South."
Mofitt declined to comment when asked if his bowl would consider a rematch between Wofford and South Carolina.
Grenade Bowl president Arthur Van Delai praised USC's fans.
"It doesn't take much to get the fans around here excited," Delai said. "There's nothing wrong with being a bit delusional at times. By the time our bowl is played, the Gamecocks might be on their way to some kind of recruiting title, so there should be lots of excitement among the fans."
