But I am sick of tattoos --- It's a blight on humanity. Many thanks to the NBA who we allow our children from ages 3 to 21 to mimic when we know they are just a bunch of thugs. Okay, I said it. And I'm not taking it back.

Tattoos aren't anything new.

Mar 19, 2011, 1:11 PM

Humanity has a long historical tradition with tattoos and other physical markings.

Maybe your attitude is more 'new school'?

IMO, his post had nothing to do about him, or the simple tattoes made famous from our "greatest generation", but more about the affect the body tattoes seen on many NBA players have on young people.

Many NBA players today would compete with Hell's Angels 1%ers and hard core strippers for body "art". No exactly a group most want to be compared to.

kids and some grown men do not realize how ridiculous they look...even if it is a memorial to another person..I just don't get it.

The worst by far are these bball players though...its crazy how many each guy has...if you see a guy without one now, you really notice it...especially if they are black.

tattoe put on the their body before they were 40, wanted it removed by the time they were over 50. Especially if it was not on a part of their body easily covered with a short sleeve shirt and shorts.

It sure doesn't help an individual with a hard to cover tattoe who is planning on interviewing for a professional job. Even if the person doing the interview doesn't have a problem, he/she has to consider the impression it would give the company managers/owners, likely well over 50 years old.

I interviewed a recent female college graduate over 13 years ago, before I was 40, and she came to the interview sporting a tongue stud. It was shocking to me, even at the somewhat younger age of 39.

Mar 19, 2011, 3:43 PM

I interviewed a young girl last Monday for a job in my office. Nice looking girl, professional attitude and presentation, good resume.

We were in the conference room which is always warm in the morning. She took off her jacket and both arms were completely covered with tattoos from the shoulder all the way down to the wrist. Colors and designs and well...... crap.

I can not have her in front of my clients. Period.

I thanked her and told her we would be in touch. Without the tattoos I probably make her an offer during the interview.

I hope it is / was worth it for her.

you have to question the foresight and perspective of a person who chooses to cover their torso with permanent tattoos. They are obviously not looking 10, 20, 30 years ahead, when 90% of them will regret their poor decisions.
