Days like today make me ashamed for putting so much

emotional stock into Gamecock athletics.
I love USC and my Gamecocks as much as most of you love Clemson. But today my company was forced to lay off almost half of it's work force.
Some very good people got some very bad news today. It should not matter I guess, but it seems especially painful at this time of the year.
I should not take for granted those things that are really important. In my life, Gamecock athletics and support for my school are not nearly as important as I make them out to be.
For all of you that may not be around the board next week... I hope you have a very merry Christmas. Hug those people in your life that you love and tell them you love them. If you are traveling, be careful and come home safe.

Makes you take stock in what's really important in life - looking at your family around the table together and no one sick or missing - brings life down to the real simple - however - having something like sports and for me that's the Tigers, to take away for even a minute, the hard facts of life - makes it even more cherished...

like getting downsized then finding out in 3 months your son has stage 4 cancer. Thank God he's alright now and I am driving a school bus cause no one wanted to hire a 63 y-o guy, but we're making it

I laid off 1/3 of my company two months ago. It is the worst year in business I've had ever.....by far.....kiddies are fed and the heat is on, so I'm doing great. Plus to save money, I didn't go to any games this year....but I splurged and we are going to the gator bowl.......cheap hotel and we'll bring our own food, but hey it the grand scope of life , it's all good.

yeah i work for the state and we lost alot of good one today in cuts, only two in my office but alot state wide
