Dang Coach Swinney just seems to get it.

I know Championships are all the matters but they aren't the only thing that matters.
Make sure you watch the last minute or so when OUR head football coach shows that some people do not forget there roots when they make it big..

I can't see SOS doing that, but I don't really hold that against him. As long as Dabo wins championships I will be very very happy... and all the charity he does in the world will never replace championships...
still though its the best of both worlds to have a coach who wins championships and is a great person as well.

The lessons he teaches the boys. Community service teaches compassion. The visit to the jail teaches "good choices". It's a win-win and testimony to Dabos committment toward not just developing good football players but developing fine young men. He really is doing it right. Great way to build a cohesive team that wins championships too

that strengthen moral character, and I was very proud of the Coach and team! Had a lot of good buddies at Clemson from Anderson and spent a lot of time there, so I'm glad to see them helping out the community. The wood-chopping had me rolling on the floor! Great post and a point to you!

The thing I like most about our coach is that his wife and kids are ALWAYS there with him. On the bus, in the community, at the games, etc. They are never far away. I love it!

I've thought so many times about the experiences that those little boys are getting. They are blessed to have their parents as role models.

thats why there's only 1 university in SC! Its called Clemson and its called class. We always see Dabo and team doing stuff for the cummunity, however I live here in Columbia and see local news but never see Spurrier and his team doing this!! Go Tigers! Go Dabo.....!!!!

I like what the tigers do!
However, USC does a lot in Columbia as well as the coaches...especially coach Tanner.
I am all for Clemson, but I don't agree with your throwing Columbia under the bus. It is a great town and USC does support it. If Clemson was in Columbia, it would do the same.

I disagree that Columbia is a great town, but I have seen South Carolina student athletes do a number of similar things. Bringing an athletic rivalry into acts of charity is beyond infantile IMO. I wish some of our fans would follow our coaches lead on how to act with dignity some times.

I agree! I would think we would be PROUD of any young individuals doing kind things for others. Why is this site always so negative?
If you live in Columbia...then you certainly have your opinion of it. I do live in Columbia and I would put it up with any city its size. And yes, I am a Clemson fan, but I have actually witnessed athletes from USC doing charity work in Columbia. One is Scott Wingo!

Scott was even with his dad who is a Clemson graduate. They were both doing charity work! One with a Gamecock hat and the other a Clemson hat.

and this is one of the main reasons why. He is a college football coach and has a lot on his plate, but always has time to go out into the community and serve.

teach the players more about life that you can imagine like sharing your wealth with those less fortunate and giving a neighbor or stranger a hand up when they are down. So proud of our coach!
