Multiple BBall Thoughts

Jan 7, 2006, 11:10 PM

Accidentally posted as a reply to another topic...

OP is a fantastic coach. Anyone who suggests otherwise isn't thinking clearly in the wake of a tough loss. His game planning prior to games and tactical manuevers during games are outstanding. We're very fortunate to have him. Patience.

When OP came in the cupboard was *completely* bare. We're just now to the point that we're seeing the results of OP's first real class (Hammonds, Perry, Mays, Mathis and Moore)...and the results are very, very encouraging. Add KC Rivers and Julius Powell to the mix and it's obvious that the future is bright. Unfortunately, in a way, we got more than just a taste of the future through the first 11 games of the season and we all got greedy. Patience.

Realistically we were fortunate to make the NIT last year. Another NIT appearance this season would be right on course in the development of the program. Next year we'll be looking at a team that is entirely branded by OP and his philosophy, will be deep enough and talented enough to execute OPs gameplan and will be experienced enough that we should expect to see results - NCAA results.

This team CAN be good. Those will be the nights that we hit a decent % from three. On a night like that we can beat anyone. Anyone. On days like today we can't even beat a poor UVa team. Still, the effort and intensity was there even if the results weren't. Right now we're a one-trick pony (shoot from the outside) and if a team is going to zone up against us we don't have many options. Patience.

Until I hear otherwise, James Mays is a Tiger and will continue to be a Tiger. Lord knows I'm glad Tiger nation wasn't around to comment over every aspect of the times I've screwed up in my life.

Win, lose or draw - we all continue to support the Tiger. If we can go to games, we go. If we can't, we can't. But we're stronger together than we are when we're knocking each other down.

Go Tigers! Beat Wake!

I very much agree.... the good start was the best and worst thing that could have happened to us. It was good for the players because it gave them confidence and showed them they could win games.. but us as fans need to realize we haven't played a tough opponent yet, and though we can play with anyone, we shouldn't expect to win every game, or even every other game.. YET!!

Great! The "dirbble" from the 'dark side' was getting old.***
