a Pirate fan? I will always support Clemson but have to admit I will be watching and pulling for ECU! I hope Tommy hires Danny before he takes the ECU job.

coaching close to most Clemson fans. I think some or possibly a lot of Clemson fans may bolt to ECU. (there are a lot of NC Clemson fans). The money pipeline could drop off at Clemson. Clemson needs to hire Danny for some position at Clemson.

Uhhhh... yeah... because soooo many Miss. fans switched to Auburn when Tuberville took that job, soooo many UK fans now pledge allegiance to Louisville since Pitino ended up there, sooooo many Gator fans will switch allegiance to UCS. But don't cry for Florida, because I'm completely sure that Miami fans will flock to the Florida bandwagon in droves if Butch Davis takes the UF job.

Seriously though, I don't doubt that Ford still has many admirers, and though they may actually read an ECU box score in the newspaper more often than they otherwise would, I can't see ECU siphoning off any significant amount of fans or dollars from Clemson.

You will see if Danny takes the job at ECU***

Would you want fans that wishy washy supporting Clemson

Dec 1, 2004, 11:37 AM

anyways? I may complain about Bowden a lot, but there is nothing he or anybody else can do to make me not be a Tiger. I've loved this University and it's football team since the day I first laid eyes on it, and I will continue to do so until the day they lay me to rest. Anyone that switches allegiances to another school, just because they have a former great coach of ours, is a fair weather fan and we don't need them.

I support Clemson because its Clemson, not because it's where Danny Ford coached.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can't say that I would pull for Danny but I will always

Dec 1, 2004, 10:56 AM

wish him well. He hired Jim Washburn when Wash was persona non grata. Washburn was (unjustly IMO) made to carry the entire burden of the steriod thing at Carolina. Ford's decision to hire Wash resurrected his career. I've always admired Ford's decision in taking a chance and wish him well.

Tommy needs to do whats best for Clemson, not what's best..

for Danny.

Danny wasn't exactly a world beater at Arkansas. What makes you so sure that ECU has a more solid program with more ingredients for success than the Razorbacks?

Dec 1, 2004, 11:00 AM

He is a legend is his own right, but his day is over. Yes he was tough and he had tough teams, but as LOUser learned, college football is a different animal today. I don't Danny will do anything else to tarnish his legacy after Arkansas.
