Boo hoo, who cares? Home rule I say.

Show me federal road ;) They are not that common. Most roadways are state/district in this case or local. Anyway, the condition of the road normally improves the further it is to feds.

Meanwhile if you want to sew chaos, just start painting random parking lines in places. Add additional points of you fluctuate from the 8x18 or 8x20. I personally like 7.5 and then slowly and randomly narrow to just over 7. Going shorter only works on perpendicular parking with a lot of extended cab "accounting trucks" as give them a 12 lane and a 16' stall.
