Why is a private school in South Carolina trying to

Aug 25, 2019, 3:34 PM

Play an elite level school? Private schools football in South Carolina is just a step above YMCA football.

A high school football teammate of mine is the principal at Hammond, I’ll have to ask why he put those kids through this beating.

With Huntley and Burch being national recruits, I guess Hammond was a good fit for what they are trying to do on ESPN.

But, yeah, Hammond is getting theirs handed to them.

I haven’t seen anyone on Hammond team resemble a national recruit***

Hammond has a 6'6 270 DE and a 6'5 260 lb DT that are

national recruits. They are the bigger, stronger team.

Their QB is just plain terrible.

2/11 doesn’t make a team, it’s easy to isolate

Aug 25, 2019, 3:59 PM

Them and run plays away from them.

Aug 25, 2019, 4:02 PM

Except they aren't doing that. They have lined up and run over both Burch and Huntley. That all white PA team is just whupping up on them. Back dragged Burch for a 1st on a 4th and short.

Burch just going thru the motions. Has quit.***

Yeah, this one’s probably not going on the highlight reel. He’s a monster though and certainly has potential. Venables and co. could figure out how to get that motor running non stop!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To me he looks like a great athlete, but a raw football

Aug 25, 2019, 4:15 PM

Player, it’ll take 1-2 years of college coaching to make the 2 deep at Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He hasn't done much but the other guy Huntley is getting

blown off the ball by smaller, lighter players. I don't think he has made a single tackle.

did you really just say "That all white PA team" ... I hope you're referring to their uniforms... no wonder people think the south is still in the 40's... unreal ....

Your defending the comments? Seriously? Like I said maybe he was talking about the uniforms and I mis interpreted what Grad90 said, if he's talking about the skin color of the kids from PA I don't care if he's from mars, there should be no place on this board for that ... trust me I'm not a SJW but that is pretty blatant...

Thanks for the updates

Aug 25, 2019, 4:14 PM

I guess the score must be out of hand now. I couldn't continue to watch when all I kept hearing is Muscoot. Muscoot hands the ball off, Muscoot passes to ...... That was enough for me!

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

36-0 with a running clock.***

I don’t know, but good question.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know plenty of Hammond families

Aug 25, 2019, 4:32 PM

In their little secluded echo chamber, they think their teams are top ranked in state across all levels. Plenty of billboards celebrating ‘state championships’. They accuse other schools of being afraid to play them.

At best, they would be a solid 2A team. Though their recruitment (ahem, needs based scholarships) help land a few talented athletes each year.

To me it was reminiscent of Chapin last year

Re: Why is a private school in South Carolina trying to

Aug 25, 2019, 8:02 PM

Exactly!
ESPN is so use to "Private School" being loosely translated to "recruited talent school"! Which is the case in many parts of the country and is starting to be the case more and more in SC. But, we are not there yet. Not even close. The level of competition that Hammonds plays week in and out is nowhere near equal. They also got on ESPN because they had won I believe 29 straight games and as mentioned already have two national recruits. But, look at who they are playing. The competition from the other teams they play is probably about like a good 4a or a 5a "JV TEAM"!
And here these guys are in the middle of Columbia getting some really good talent to beat up kids who just can't compete.

***Also a word of caution to all the people who only ever look at a kids star rating! Be careful and look at the competition the kid played against. Raw size and physical attributes are one thing; but being good at playing football is something else!
